I never really got absorbed in the hype for this movie and I live in rural canada.
My "theater" downtown rarely plays movies, and it's mostly for plays and shit, so by the time this movie came along to my hometown, it had already beaten Titanic, which I thought must mean something.
So, I went to see it, expecting a remake of Pocahontas and... I... got a hell of a lot more than I paid for. ($6, the sound system and projector there is shit)
I thought that the story wasn't too original, but the visuals were stunning; I actually forgot that it was CGI for a little bit while watching it.
I don't have time to write a full review, but summing it up, here's the rating I'm giving it
Story: 7.5 not original, but well executed.
CGI: 10.0 unlike anything I've ever seen, can't give it any less than this. Even haters admit that the CGI was great.
Rewtach Value: 9.0 I saw it twice in theaters, it's very good.
Overall: 9.4/10 I recommend it.

I watched it in 3D and :iia:
if I didn't see it in 3D I would have walked out.
Boring film, too long, horribly written, horribly acted and not too mention James Cameron's predictable directing.
The CGI was beyond awesome though, the only thing I loved in this movie.
I enjoyed it.
I didn't like the film, way over hyped after all my friends came up to me and were all "OMG DIS FILM IS AMAZING THE STORY IS AMAZING", and it felt like the 3D effect wore off half way through the film as I stopped caring. It did look good though, and the Sgt guy looked like the Sgt from Small soldiers, so I thought he was cool. Oh and I kept getting Lord of the Rings Deja vu from the film, not saying that it copied it, but I have seen LotR so many times some parts just felt like it.
I really liked the movie, even though the story is shit. Saw it in 3D and the VFX and the SFX were both stunning. Even though it was an amazing experience watching it, and I think it was a great movie thanks to the post-production, it's not the kind of movie I'd want to watch twice.

I love this movie. Its so engrossing, you just get pulled into the world it creates. Its not just good special effects, its good story telling (even if that story is similar to Pocahontas).

story telling is sub par, special effects are amazing

This film is the most brilliantly marketed piece of eh in history.
It literally has no point whatsoever. It's like if James Cameron had a checklist of people who's dicks he had to suck during the span of the movie. And I guess that's fine for entertainment, but fuck people, this is the most popcorny that a popcorn flick can get. Don't pretend that it's some spiritual masterpiece.
