am i confused or wasn't there another shooting in santa monica like two days ago?
Same one, the sources were just recently confirmed I guess.
I'm kinda surprised this didn't blow up on the news. I saw a single article on yahoo, but nothing else other than minor articles on other sites.
-snip- misread the article
It would be a fascinating study to see what contributes to events like this and why America seems to have a lot of them
It would be a fascinating study to see what contributes to events like this and why America seems to have a lot of them
Because we have a huge population, in both people and guns. And them. It's easy to buy a gun, Background checks are shit, and there is no gun safety what so ever for gun owners.

Cali has the toughest gun laws in the country, with backround checks out the wazoo and FFL's dealing with everything. Hi cap mags are outlawed, and any rifle with a detachable magazine must have something making the mag removable only with a tool of some sorts. There's all sorts of other stuff in there. So either what the guy had was illegal to begin with or he owned a ton of pre ban stuff.
or because america is incapable of agreeing on effective federal gun control measures he could have gone next door to arizona and just bought his gear from a dude on craigslist
Or because there is a rampant mental health problem within the United States that contributes to this sort of violence? Our go to solution for crazies always seems to be pumping them full of drugs and hoping for the best.
or because america is incapable of agreeing on effective federal gun control measures he could have gone next door to arizona and just bought his gear from a dude on craigslist
except he can't legally do that. if he's willing to go out of state for a gun what makes you think he won't go with one of the hundreds of onion sites that let you buy illegal guns with bitcoins or simply go to his local drug dealer's house and buy a filed gun off him?
its almost as if there are.. multiple factors influencing american gun crime.. impossible..
Unless you manage to remove every gun in the U.S (will never happen) then there's no law that can prevent gun crime like this. You'd be an idiot to assume otherwise.

This happened literally a block away from where i grew up. Luckily none of my friends or family got hurt.

This happened last week. One of the 5 is the gunman.
i sure hope nobody makes that argument because then I would have to put on my care pants and call that argument stupid. let's hope the day never comes...
Could you provide a counter-argument slightly more elaborate than "That's stupid"?
Title is a bit misleading, it only ended up at the school's campus after the guy ripped across the city streets.
Could you provide a counter-argument slightly more elaborate than "That's stupid"?
Are you seriously going to argue that poisoned blowdarts or a zip-gun made with homemade gunpowder would be as effective a tool for a mass killing as, say, an actual, factory-made semi-automatic pistol? [editline]9th June 2013[/editline] I know it's possible to imagine some crazy video-game-logic scenario where someone manages to get away with that but let's try to be realistic here.
