So far no damage has been reported. Two blasts of magnetic plasma left the sun on Sunday, combined and arrived on Earth about 15 hours earlier and much stronger than expected, said Thomas Berger, director of the Space Weather Prediction Center in Boulder, Colorado. This storm ranks a 4, called severe, on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's 1-to-5 scale for geomagnetic effects. It is the strongest solar storm to blast Earth since the fall of 2013. It's been nearly a decade since a level 5 storm, termed extreme, has hit Earth.
How do I find out where the northern lights will be visible? I'm sure Las Vegas won't be able to see it, but I'd still like to see the range.
Yeah I saw some of that, really neat looking though. [editline]17th March 2015[/editline] Should I expect more?
Go outside right now:
Well, I guess I'm not surprised. Guess I can stray in tonight in Ohio.
fucks sake, only about 100 miles out of range
Can't see shit. Central Sweden never gets any northern lights. :( I've had the luck of just barely seeing them once in my entire life. And the clouds just rolled in. I need my trippy skies god fucking damnit.
Go outside right now:
Saw 'em pretty strong earlier.
Apparently you could see them in the north of the netherlands. Didn't know they could be seen in this country
[t]http://i.imgur.com/fkurqPs.png[/t] As of 15 minutes ago. If you live in that plume, take a camera and go outside right now for us. I'm hoping it's sustained for tonight, and I hope it's not cloudy (it's almost certainly going to be cloudy) here. I've never seen the northern lights in person, and that makes me a failure of a Canadian.
saw them, they were quite pretty
No luck down here in London. But there are a lot of clouds and a bit of mist around, so there's that...
Visible in mid-Finland. In a city though so it's not as nice as it could be, they look like a faint cloud with this light pollution.
saw some! [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32264365/lambi/photatograpyh/DSC_0295.JPG[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32264365/lambi/photatograpyh/DSC_0335.JPG[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32264365/lambi/photatograpyh/DSC_0346.JPG[/t]
Yeah, light pollution here too.

Man, as adverse the effects possibly may be, I so wish it would have engulfed more of North America and Europe so others could see. If I weren't so far South I'd drive to see them. I love this kind of stuff.
Man...I want to see real auroras at least once in my life.

no clouds, living in the covered area yet my camera at 30" exposure couldn't even see green in the sky at any angle
i thought i was seeing things.
This stuff was visible in The Netherlands, can't see it my self though, light pollution and stuff in the way :(
I can't see shit, damn.
Awwww yeah, its pretty nice out and clear skies in Minnesota. Should be a nice show
Holy crap I can see it. First time I'm seeing it wow
I see it now as well, first time. So fucking cool. Having like a religious experience right now.
Only a tiny bit visible here :<
I see it now as well, first time. So fucking cool. Having like a religious experience right now.
Yeah man, I opened my windows and it's like a big fucking green snake is hovering above my neighbors house WOW
You really can understand why people used to worship the stars/sky and stuff. Thousands of years ago the night sky must have looked absolutely stunning.
Can't see shit. I live exactly where it's suppose to be visible and live in the countryside
