WASHINGTON – Discrimination of women, Arabs and Ethiopians, mistreatment of refugees and asylum seekers and violations of migrants' rights – Israel is guilty of all these charges, according to a State Department report on human rights practices around the world.
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4369999,00.html
Referring to Israel's treatment of the Palestinians, the report accuses Israel of "excessive use of force against civilians, including killings; abuse of Palestinian detainees, particularly during arrest and interrogation; austere and overcrowded detention facilities; improper use of security detention procedures; demolition and confiscation of Palestinian property." The State Department further criticized Israel for "limitations on freedom of expression, assembly, and association; and severe restrictions on Palestinians’ internal and external freedom of movement."
It's sad how even an internal report released by the executive branch highlights all of these things yet Obama wouldn't dare even to acknowledge it in public.
I think we need to call these things out in public. Israel deserves some punishment for these despicable things. Edit:
"Other human rights problems included institutional and societal discrimination against non-Orthodox Jews and some minority religious groups; societal discrimination against persons with disabilities and Ethiopian Jews; and serious labor rights abuses against foreign workers," the report said.
That's just fucked up.
I'm glad that there aren't any religious parties in the new coalition, so all of the wasted budget that goes to orthodox jews who dont work should be cut short soon,I hope. I'm really for seperating religion and state I wouldn't say there's societal discrimination..(maybe from the orthodox jews side)..I'm not sure about the women discrimination charges either, and the article isn't very specific on those

Political suicide if you say "israel is____" followed by anything other than "the best ally in the middle east we love them."
