The hangover pill’s release is just in time for the holiday season and the 78th anniversary of Repeal Day. This photo from our archives ran in 1933 with a caption that read, “a New York political rally captures the mood of America after 14 dry years.” (Washington Post archives)When even the CIA’s pared-down holiday party starts making headlines, you know it’s peak holiday party season in Washington. With celebrations in full swing, a new pill recently approved by the FDA promises to alleviate some of the pain — even if it won’t save you from that annual embarrassing karaoke choice or that regrettable, booze-fueled Airing of Grievances ritual that comes out of cornering your office superiors.(Not that anyone reading or writing would know about that.)But I digress. The pill is called Blowfish, and creator Brenna Haysompromises that it’ll kick nagging hangover pains — headache, upset stomach — in 15 to 30 minutes.According to the The New York Daily News, Blowfish tablets consist of 1,000 milligrams of aspirin, 120 milligrams of caffeine and a stomach-soothing agent split up into two tablets designed for consumption the morning after a night of heavy drinking. Here are a few other holiday party-related gems — coincidentally, they’re a perfect fit for Monday:

Give this woman a nobel prize

fail.
So it's basically the equivalent to some aspirin and a cup of coffee?

AND PEPTO-BISMAL!
jesh, get it right!!
A joint and some sort of fizzy drink always cures my hangovers.

Same, although I don't really drink fizzy stuff on a hangover, water does you a solid.
Coconut water.
Seriously. Amazing hangover cure.

not enough water in the world to cure my hangovers
1,000 milligrams of aspirin, 120 milligrams of caffeine
So, it's breakfast?
holy shit 1000mg of aspirin + 120mg caffeine?
kill your internals the night before, then kill your internals the morning after because you're too much of an irresponsible fucktard, makes sense
Im so glad I dont get hangovers
yet
Such pills have existed for a long while. But perhaps not branded themselves as "hangover" pills, but simply headache pills.
Examples here in Sweden are Treo and Treo Comp (although this one got kodein too so it's illegal unless prescription).
This is retarded.
1000mg of aspirin + 120mg of caffeine. OMG SO BRILLIANT.
why do I get the impression they are going to charge out the ass for what amounts to an aspirin + a cup or two of coffee.
There is many better combinations of substances to cure a hangover, and this still fails to address the primary cause of a hangover: dehydration.

That's literally all this is. A minor analgesic + a minor nervous system stimulant to make you feel a bit more energetic.
Codeine is in over the counter products over here in small amounts, usually combined with panadol. While it's a great pain reliever, I honestly wouldn't use it on even a semi-regular basis simply because codeine gives you mad constipation. I literally didnt shit for 2 days after using codeine once.
and when i did
rock hard
Fuck hangovers, smoke weed.
i make all my friends jealous as i never get hungover
the most i get is a dry mouth and my brain feels like its made of cotton wool but besides that.
no pain no sickness ..and if i want to be a real twat i can call up my friends from the night before all cheery and "good morning"-y lol
nothings worse that a cheery motherfucker when your hungover as hell
Fuck hangovers, smoke weed.
I'd do this but I don't want to get executed.
not enough water in the world to cure my hangovers
Well if that doesn't work, you can always take a few shots and get drunk again. though you're just delaying it a bit at that point.
So it's basically the equivalent to some aspirin and a cup of coffee?
We already have that, it's called panadol extra.
Meh, know what a better idea would be?
Put funding into researching/formulating a safer recreational drug for the masses that has few negative side effects and where intoxication can be stopped within minutes with an "antidote" pill. That is something I'd like to see.
But, as I've learnt from current drug policy, enjoying yourself or feeling good as a result of using a substance is "IMMORAL" unless it has negative consequences that follow.

Most antidotes tend to be profoundly unpleasant.

Codeine isn't available in many countries without a prescription because of all the kids ingesting copious amounts of it and getting high. There's now even limits to how much you can buy of the low quantity preparations.
of course you can still buy and drink a whole bottle of 200ml Rikodeine so go figure

Then you're not doing it right.
Then you're not doing it right.
Agreed.
I can measure hangovers in days... but that is probably more like alcohol poisoning.
best invention of the year all years
I sometimes take piracetam for hangovers.
Does the trick really.
Drinking water before bed ALLWAYS works for me
Oh hey, look we now have the alcoholic form of filtered cigarettes.
Which means you still get the damage :v:
Never really been hungover. Nearly threw up in a lecture in freshers that's about it haha.
Isn't mixing aspirin with alcohol really terrible for your liver? Or was that acetaminophen? Or both?
