The family of a British pilot presumed missing in action more than 70 years ago have been reunited with the ring he was wearing when his plane crashed.
Special operations pilot Sgt John Thompson died when his plane went down in Albania on October 29, 1944 whilst transporting assistance to local anti-Nazi fighters.
Local man, Jaho Cala found Mr Thompson's finger with the ring still on it at Sinoi Mountain, 25 miles north of the Albanian capital Tirana in 1960.
Afraid to show it to the then communist authorities he hid it in his home and asked his son Xhemil to look for the family of the owner when he died.
Xhemil contacted the British embassy and three months later they confirmed the ring was Mr Thompson's and it is now back with his 92-year-old sister Dorothy Webster.

Genuinely amazing. Especially that the son did exactly what his father asked him to do with the ring
That's good parenting.
Nice the son did it, many people would have just sold or kept the ring.
