Labour has urged companies to "do their bit" to ensure they recruit more workers from the UK. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-23665022
Wait, LABOUR said that? Really?

Perhaps if British workers were better trained... Especially when it comes to the IT and Software Development industries.
Wish the jackasses in the states would do something about jobs/college. It's either work your ass off for 2 years in college and have massive debt and the chance at a shit job, or work a dead end job in order to pay for college and still have shit chances at getting hired at any place decent.
Maybe employers should pay immigrants the same as British workers so there won't be a reason to hire one over the other.
Wait, LABOUR said that? Really?
It looks like Labour just want the current government to address youth unemployment rather than just wanting to deny foreign workers jobs:
And I want to see the government take action - working with companies - to make sure they can recruit more local young people, qualified to to the job

The hospitality, care and construction industries had "consistently high levels of recruitment from abroad, and far too low levels of training for local young people.

But I've heard examples from across the country where employers appear to have made a deliberate decision not to provide training to local young people but to cut pay and conditions and to recruit from abroad instead, or to use tied accommodation and undercut the minimum wage

Companies had to provide school-leavers with "the skills they need for work"

There's nothing wrong with college in the UK, unless you mean University in which case there's still nothing wrong with the system in place.
That's why he said
in the states

Perhaps if British workers were better trained... Hey look, Labour are scared of UKIP too.
Hey look, Labour are scared of UKIP too.
nobody is "scared" of UKIP and no one ever will be. they're a bad joke told by right-wing fucksticks to right-wing fucksticks, that's all.

You can go to College to become a police officer, but your chances of being hired are skewed if you're not of a different ethnicity or female. Don't take my words for it, when I was working a odd job, I asked one of the lieutenants of a local station. He basically said that. Would suck spending near 50k all around law enforcement to get turned down cause you're white.

populism
I am pretty sure nobody will choose the immigrants over the brits if the brits will be willing to work for the measly little wages the immigrants are okay with.
The last three jobs i got an interveiw for where all low paying, hard working jobs like cleaning and shelf stacking. In all three jobs there where people who could barely speak a full sentence in English going for it too. I got turned down all three time in favor of those Non-English speaking people. It's really unfair, so I support this
Maybe employers should pay immigrants the same as British workers so there won't be a reason to hire one over the other.
lol then immigrants would still be given preference over British workers. I used to work in a chicken processing plant where probably 90% of the workers were immigrants and I was one of the very few white fellas in my department as well. Since working there I have gained a strong respect for Chinese people in particular for how hard they work. We worked on the conveyor belts and while the group I was with had our belt running at low speed, their belts were running at full speed and they never made mistakes. I ended up not receiving any more work from there (maybe because of something else) but if it was because I was not as fast of a worker I really don't have a problem with that because I should have been faster and more competitive.
If you can't get a job over people who can't even speak the language of their workplace, I feel no sympathy for you.
I think its the fact that those people who can't speak a lick of english are getting the job he was more qualified for due to agreeing to less pay.
I think its the fact that those people who can't speak a lick of english are getting the job he was more qualified for due to agreeing to less pay.
You need to be qualified to stack shelves and clean?
Also I'm betting the thread is gonna turn out like this haha
If you can't get a job over people who can't even speak the language of their workplace, I feel no sympathy for you.
You make it sound as if I have any kind of weight in this situation. all i can do is show my skills, grades and how much i want to work and yet they still choose the others because they can pay them less.
You make it sound as if I have any kind of weight in this situation. all i can do is show my skills, grades and how much i want to work and yet they still choose the others because they can pay them less.
There are two reasons as to why those people were chosen over you. 1. They were better than you. 2. They were willing to work for less. In rebuttal. 1. This is your own fucking fault. 2. This is your own fucking fault.
You make it sound as if I have any kind of weight in this situation. all i can do is show my skills, grades and how much i want to work and yet they still choose the others because they can pay them less.
except cleaning and stacking shelves aren't some high quality ultra-skilled job that requires phd, it's a job that everyone can do, hence you're not special, and you have no one to blame if it wasn't immigrants, it would be another desperate brit taking lesser wage than you're asking for
There are two reasons as to why those people were chosen over you. 1. They were better than you. 2. They were willing to work for less. In rebuttal. 1. This is your own fucking fault. 2. This is your own fucking fault.
I'm sorry if i come across rudely here, but that is BULLSHIT. how is it my fault if they are willing to work for less? For pete sakes, i spent 4 years at college getting diplomas and have fine grades from school. i'm a hard working guy and i need the money. but because they are willing to work for less, this is my fault? Please explain, because i simply don't see your point of veiw.

This is your own fucking fault. 2. This is your own fucking fault.
In rebuttal: Young workers suffer from a lack of skills due to employers not employing young people for said reason (as pointed out several times in the posted article), when competing with a foreign worker who is willing to work for less money than your average Brit who do you think gets the job? The older, slightly more experienced foreign worker who is willing to take a pay cut for the job or the young, inexperienced Brit who wants to work for the minimum wage?
Maybe employers should pay immigrants the same as British workers so there won't be a reason to hire one over the other.
Employers are going to undercut their employees as much as possible. They can't do that as much with people from here because they're in a stronger position, better established, more able to cause annoyance for them. Immigrants are in a considerably weaker position. The employers will find it a lot easier to say "stop complaining or I'll hire someone else", so they're forced to work for less or get nothing. For that reason, employers prefer to hire immigrants. They're easier to control. It's not the immigrants' not the natives' fault.
