Why sex workers love their jobs in New Zealand Source: New York Post (NSFW pic in source) ____________________
New Zealand. Home of the long white cloud, the Lord of the Rings and, apparently, the best working conditions for prostitutes on the planet. Sex workers there sign contracts, get paid weekly, work for bosses who keep their best interests at heart and have a relationship with police that Australian prostitutes can only dream of. Prostitution is even covered under occupational health and safety laws. It’s not pot luck that New Zealand prostitutes have it better. It can all be traced to a single piece of legislation that passed through parliament in 2003 — the Prostitution Reform Act. The decision 12 years ago to decriminalize sex work meant it became legal to work in managed brothels without a size limit, work for yourself, work from home, work from the street or work from the Web. In Wellington, a brothel named Bon Ton is spoken of as “the Holy Grail.” The eight women who work there told documentary makers this week that “everybody’s in a good mood” and that, “hand on heart,” they love what they do.
Pretty damn interesting, didn't know NZ treated their sex workers this well.
this all being said, there has still been some horrible things happen to sex workers, but mainly the ones who work on the street. my stepmums friend is a madam at a brothel and they take security and safety seriously there, including chasing an unpaying client with a shotgun :v:
Prostitution is even covered under occupational health and safety laws.
That must be a litigious nightmare.
That's how it should be. In the Netherlands most prostitutes are Eastern European and South Americans forced into prostitution after being promised a career in modeling or dancing.
Ah, the life of a sheep.
Wait, New Zealand has guns?
New Zealand, one of the few places in the Western World where an average citizen without a criminal record can own a machine gun. They have this very strange rule though where you can own a fully functional machine gun but for some reason it's a criminal offense to load ammo into it  [editline]2nd June 2015[/editline] Apparently the NZ police force though crack down hard on people who use guns in self-defence.
The UK is very similar, while the Gernans are typically bureaucratic and have machines set up in major cities so it's easier for sex workers to pay tax.
I see no logical reason for prostitution to be illegal. It only makes life hell for the people doing it. NZ has the right idea and the entire western world should follow suit.
im not entirely sure these guys brushed up on their australian legislation regarding this when they decided to compare it to australia we have very similar legislation regarding it; we have legalized brothels that run as proper businesses, we let them manage themselves as independent prostitutes (so long as they dont work in their personal home) and allow them to work online we don't allow streetwalkers however due to obscenity laws/reasons so long as they report their earnings and take proper care of themselves its all good there will always be dark and shady things surrounding the sex industry, but it puzzles me why they actually just popped australia in there as a comparison for a single sentence and never mentioned it or even went into detail with the comparisons
clickbait Also someone hates Australia prob.
To become a client do you have to prove you are clean or how does that work? How do they stop randoms in the community or even people from overseas coming and giving the girls something bad, that is then passed onto other clients? [editline]2nd June 2015[/editline]
Also someone hates Australia prob.
We can't rule out anyone from NZ then.

Interesting. I think you New Zealanders are doing it right. I hate the stigma attached to prostitution here in America. A person should be allowed to be a prostitute or partake in the activity if they so desire, in my opinion. As long as it's done properly, like well-managed, safe brothels and such.
Wait, New Zealand has guns?
Aye. New Zealand is sorta like the Czech Republic in terms of it's licensing system, and it's one of the very few places you can own whatever you want, so long as you have records to prove you own it in a safe or protected area. It also had it's own mass shooting, and it didn't go full retard like its brother and motherland.
I see no logical reason for prostitution to be illegal. It only makes life hell for the people doing it. NZ has the right idea and the entire western world should follow suit.
It's not illegal in Canada.

It's insane to think about considering how well it works in places like New Zealand.

It really depends on the State. Go to SA, and things that are legal in Victoria and NSW are illegal there. Also, the article was authored by news.com.au and published by NYPost - so it's actually an Australian article.
ya man nz got it great australia banned guns and its only had 0 mass shootings since lmao didnt even do shit
Since then we've had one mass shooting between bikie gangs, an arson that killed a 15 people, another arson that killed 11 people, a massacre with a blunt instrument that killed 5 people, another shooting spree that killed 5 people, and a mass stabbing that killed 8 children. But the world is safe as only two of the massacres involved guns because they're all that matters!
That's how it should be. New Zealand, is there any other reason that explains why your fucking awesome.
New Zealand, is there any other reason that explains why your fucking awesome.
It's also a fisherman/hunters wet dream. The regulations in New Zealand are so relaxed compared to most countries, and tend to act like the United States and Canada in terms of promoting conservation efforts.
i cant find sources on the bikie gangs thing that killed 15 people, unless those 15 people were in other bikie gangs then its not really considered a mass shooting as its not so much "mass murder" as its "urban warfare" Blunt instrument isnt a gun Knives arent guns stop being dumb
the bikie gang shootout is known as the milpera massacare. my dads friend was in that shootout in one of the gangs :v:
If you were to suggest something like this in the US people would argue that you are literally Satan. It's insane to think about considering how well it works in places like New Zealand.
Have you considered the fact that the US doesn't legalize prostitution because its less to do with being curmudgeons or religious values or its more about the very terrible reality of trafficking in persons that permeates the industry?
i remember when me and my mates were all 16 and celebrating valentines day we wore suits and went to a brothel and they gave us a tour of the place but wouldn't fuck us cos we were underage and broke. so there were like 10 teenagers in suits getting led around all the fuck rooms and stuff by the working girls it was sick they also give us all working names I was Adriano the Charmer!| the only other name i remember was my mate John's name He was Diesel the Damager. they were the nicest people. god bless new zealand

It doesn't matter if you're stabbed, shot or burned to death, at the end of the day they are dead. How it was achieved did not matter and it shows how idiotic the phrase 'we haven't had any mass shootings since' is.
Talking about gun control while I'm totally fine with what australia currently has it does make sporting a pain in the ass though, its shit annoying to go here and there just so you can own your own paintball marker and airsoft being completely illegal is stupid. I'm actually jealous of NZ, their car laws are so relaxed its like heaven, great roads and the fact that radar detectors are legal means you can drive "lawfully" when required. My point is really NZ laws are much more relaxed than ours and they're still not in a state of anarchy or something. Our lawmakers here constantly have something up their asses.

The more difficult murder is the better.

Next holiday location? Oh, wait I live in germany, nevermind...
Meanwhile here in Canada prostitution has been made illegal again since December.
