Why does my Polish TA try to force feed her American children bread, lard and onions?

Today I went to class and listened to my Anthropology TA from Poland describe the evolutionary process of her children resisting bread, lard and onions; her favorite meal. She was frustrated that the American culture doesn't reinforce this food. I invite discussion on 1) does bread, lard and onions taste good? 2) should she force this food on her children? and 3) is this a microcosm of other cultural issues in society today? and lastly 4) is this even important? funny? or a waste of an hour of my life?
you're dumb
uh lard is reinforced by american culture
