So am I the only one that thinks this looks bad? And the only one that's bothered that a pointless cameo in Civil War, where Scott didn't even act slightly like this solo movie counterpart, is looking like it's going to completely define the plot of this movie. I really liked the last movie too.
Looks pretty fun and enjoyable to me
The concept of shrinking/growing seems like it could lend to some creative scenes and ideas, but other than that, the movie seems incredibly uninspired and bland. The characters don't stand out at all, and the line "I do some dumb things, and the people I love the most pay the price" sold me that the writing won't stand out either. I'm also a bit disappointed by the name. First movie? Ant-Man. Second movie? Ant-Man and The Wasp. [editline]30th January 2018[/editline] I mean I can see a silver lining that it can definitely be enjoyable if you turn your brain off, like The Expendables, but still. I'm tired of those kinds of movies.
I'm tired on movies that are setup for future movies whilst simultaneously relying on previous movies. For the longest time I watched mainly these kinds of movies, only recently have I started consciously noticing the difference between these marvel sorts of movies and just regular movies. And god, do I love movies. The fact that it was basically its own thing not reliant on a previous movie or setup for anything meant I ended up enjoying the fucking Jumanji reboot more than most new Marvel films.
I'm tired on movies that are setup for future movies whilst simultaneously relying on previous movies.
I think you found the words as to why Marvel movies are getting bad, now. Because they don't exist for themselves, but as bridges between two movies that would work better as an episode of Agents of Shield.

There's no such thing as a beginning or ending, and movies without beginnings, middles and end are destined to be structurally fucked and at best disastifying to watch. It gets a lot worse when you consider how stringent adherence to cannon and a universe style removes all sorts of opportunities for things films are supposed to have like interesting cinematography and characters and themes and motifs. Like think about how Edgar Wright dropped the Ant Man project because his style and vision didn't fit the MCU.
Probably just gonna be another typical marvel film. Good fun with a boring villain some good humor but also really bad Disney humor but overall fun experience but nothing super amazing
That music is pretty badass, loved the first one so gonna give this a shot.
i take relief in the fact that marvel movies will be consistently okay
The CG they use for growing/shrinking objects in Ant Man never bothered me like the generic glowing magical effect they use for everything else, and I think that's the only reason I don't mind this.
Those offices are going to be a disaster when he unshrinks it...
Good fun with a boring villain some good humor but also really bad Disney humor but overall fun experience but nothing super amazing
The villain in this is The Ghost, who if they actually play right could be very entertaining, since Ghost is an Alex Jones tier conspiracy theorist who engages in anti-corporate espionage.
Paul Rudd is such a goof
I'm also a bit disappointed by the name. First movie? Ant-Man. Second movie? Ant-Man and The Wasp.
As opposed to typical sequel conventions of calling it Ant-Man 2? Personally, I'd like to see less movies with a number to show that it's a sequel. Like Batman Begins to The Dark Knight then The Dark Knight Rises.
It looks like fun. I really enjoyed the first Ant Man.
i take relief in the fact that marvel movies will be consistently okay
did you even SEE the inhumans?
did you even SEE the inhumans?
Movies. Not Series.
did you even SEE the inhumans?
The TV shows are headed by a different guy, with his head wayyyy up his ass. Not that it matters anyway, since the series has already been canned.
I quite like how consistent Marvel movies are. Yes, maybe they're not as good as more unique and non-CU projects, i.e. Baby Driver or Get Out, but I always know that I'll get at least a decent/fun experience with friends, and enough substance so we can actually discuss what happened afterwards. Sometimes it's cool to even get a nice surprise of a really good movie once in a while, i.e. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
a sequel to the worst marvel movie, yay
a sequel to the worst marvel movie, yay
How fucking dare you. Everyone knows the worst marvel movie was the Ang Lee Hulk
a sequel to the worst marvel movie, yay
Either of the Hulk movies are far worse.
a sequel to the worst marvel movie, yay
you say this, but the Hulk movies, the first two Thor movies and Iron Man 3 exist
I fucking loved the first antman
I was actually incredibly bored on my second viewing of antman
I was actually incredibly bored on my second viewing of antman
That's cool
these movies are extremely easy to watch and to follow, and almost geared towards their own audience (audience that is huge, let me say). the MCU formula has proved itself for the last what, ten years? it doesnt need to rewrite the genre, it is a genre on its own by now.
I would much rather they innovate.
The box office numbers will tell if people agree with you. I wouldn't hold out hope for Ant-Man 2 to be the Marvel movie that kills the formula, though.
