• Is Internet Explorer really that bad?

I wanted to create this debate because I wan't to know more about the perspectives that go against Internet Explorer. I myself use Internet Explorer 9 because I do not necessarily care about the browser I use, as long as it browses the web efficiently, then it is fine. I much prefer IE9 over previous IE browsers because the interface is alot cleaner, and apparently is alot faster compared to IE8. If I need to use secure browsing, I use SRWare Iron (a Chromium browser) with incognito mode forced on. This is only because I can't trust InPrivate that much in comparison to a web browser built for secure browsing. I've had a phase where I only used Firefox and hated IE with a passion, then moved on to Chrome but back to IE. I didn't mind using Chrome, but to me it is no different compared to IE so I had no need for it to be installed anymore. To you, is Internet Explorer really that bad? Do you use a different browser for a specific purpose which IE doesn't offer, can't rely on IE or is it more of a personal preference to you? Finally, do you consider IE9 to be bad simply because it's an IE browser?
Windows GNU/Linux BSD Mac OS X iOS Android Windows Phone 7 It runs on 2/7 of those OSes. So yes.
Yes. That's all that needs to be said. [editline]4th October 2011[/editline] Thread over.
I prefer Firefox(Aurora & Nightly included) or Chrome(ium) to IE due to the larger library of add-ons and they just feel much more efficient.
IE 9 and 10 are technically just as good as any other browser
Except that they don't run on the same amount of platforms as other browsers.
Except that they don't run on the same amount of platforms as other browsers.
Why should anyone except an enthusiast care? The fact is that it runs just as well as Firefox and Chrome. Just because it's not as cross platform doesn't mean it's not as good. The point of the discussion is not platform support.
I use IE occasionally, but mostly Chrome.

IE is Good and Bad at the same time.
Using it right now. Ever since I formatted my PC I've been trying out IE9 and it's been suprisingly good so far. Starts up really quickly (not as fast as Maxthon though), looks nice and clean, and gets the job done. IE isn't just some shitty browser anymore.
No, it's just that there are better web browsers out there.
I'm too used to the convenience of Chrome to go back.
Of those, IE is the slowest; Well IE8 is. I'll look for a current IE graph....

well everytime i click on i go "FUCK FUCK NOOOO" it it takes me like a minute to exit from it. its waay too slow. why bother using it when there's firefox, safari, chrome, etc?
I love Chrome to death. I hate Internet Explorer. It's slow, clunky, and ugly. :S
Except that they don't run on the same amount of platforms as other browsers.
who the hell cares what platforms it supports you only need it for one platform BTW opera on W7 is nice, but on the android, its utter crap and the the default browser is better. Just because it can't run on a mac or other, doesn't magically make it "Better".

I usually use Firefox but when he decides to shit itself on me, i abandon it and use CHROME. I only use IE to get Firefox.

Internet Explorer: The best browser for downloading other browsers. Fuck IE. It sucks hard. Don't care what version. It is just bad. I stopped using it when I wanted to highlight half a word and it decided to highlight the whole word, with no way not to do so. Firefox Beta Channel master race.
It's not that IE sucks as most people put it, it's just not as fast and convenient as other browsers.
BTW opera on W7 is nice, but on the android, its utter crap and the the default browser is better.
I find it funny that I have the EXACT OPPOSITE experience on that.
It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be, but it's still pretty bad. It may not be the massive security hole that IE6 was, but there are still unpatched security issues in the latest version. Plus it's still very slow and clunky compared with it's competitors. It always feels a few years behind all the others, like it's trying to keep up with the current trends, but it never gets there before they move on. Anyway, platform support is quite a big deal for me. I need a browser that isn't allergic to penguins.
IE is awesome. Can your "Chrome" do this? No, it can't. The endless amount of toolbars on IE makes it the best browser ever, you're wasting your time if you use browsers like Chrome or Firefox.
