i love how southpark has always been smart commentary wrapped in fart jokes
its really good
Pretty impressive they come up with this stuff in a few days while doing the rest of the work for the episode (and making poop jokes in between)
Season 19 was borderline Orwellian sci-fi, it had a very surreal tone to it looking at it in full.
Like yes the concepts and jokes are cheesy but the way they're worked into the story is neat.
I expected something pretty different when I started watching the video than what I got in the end. It's not some bullshit "sjw hate" thing, but a thought-out critique of neoliberalism. I enjoyed it.

also I lost it when they refered to Slavoj Žižek as a mountain troll.
It also helps that the creators of South Park have been on a "we don't fucking care anymore" path for a while so they don't have a lot to lose. I saw the making of a while ago and episodes are sometimes given hours before the actual run so Comedy Central does not see the episode till its actually on-air.

I'm pretty sure the only time Comedy Central has stepped in and stopped a show was Mohammed.

Which one was that by the way? He was uncensored in the super friends episode from pre season 10, I keep hearing about him being censored but I haven't seen it

It was the episodes "200" and "201"

Comedy Central is pretty relaxed with South Park, Parker threatened to end their relationship with Comedy Central if they did not agree to rebroadcast the "Trapped in the Closet" episode (the one with Tom Cruise) but they finally did.
Also i like how it seems that comedy central received thousands of letters and emails from people who wish they'd stop broadcasting but they just ignore it. Meanwhile other stations ban entire shows because of 10 emails.

wouldnt be surprised if matt and trey, during their usual hiatus decided to write the foundation to season 19 and go from there

he was censored in the family guy parody episodes (never shown, voice only)
he's also been retrospectively censored in super best friends amid controversy, it barely gets re-run anymore
the pretty hilariously bad part to this all is that Muhammad was actually a hero in the episodes he starred in and wasn't displayed in a bad manner but CC still flipped shit
I have to say, despite feeling rushed at some points, this season is definitely one of my favorites.
South Park is a testament to the power of mushrooms. What other show could survive for so long and stay fresh enough for you to enjoy it?
This is the best analysis I've ever seen.

They also censored an extremely topical speech at the end.
