• Ahmed Mohamed (clock bomb kid)'s family demanding $15M in damages
IRVING -- Attorneys for the family of Ahmed Mohamed, the Irving high school student who made international headlines after being arrested earlier this year for bringing a homemade clock to school, have sent letters to both the city of Irving and the Irving School District demanding apologies and $15 million in damages. Both letters claim that Mohamed's civil rights were violated, and he and his family have suffered physical and mental anguish because of the ordeal. The letters claim Ahmed was singled out "because of his race, national origin, and religion." "Ahmed never threatened anyone, never caused harm to anyone, and never intended to," read the letter to the city. "The only one who was hurt that day was Ahmed, and the damages he suffered were not because of oversight or incompetence. The school and city officials involved knew what they needed to do to protect Ahmed's rights. They just decided not to do it." The letters demand $10 million be paid to the family by the city of Irving, and $5 million from the school district.
http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/2015/11/23/ahmed-mohamed-seeking-15-million-in-damages/76255674/
this whole fucking situation is bullshit
$5 million from the school district.
golly and we wonder why our schools are underfunded shitholes
Why is this even being continued now? It's not as if the kid didn't get a good run of free stuff and publicity.
milking that cow dry I see
Notwithstanding the achievement or lack thereof with his "clock", if you think the "damages" you received are worth $15 million, in spite of the overwhelming support you received, you can fuck right off.
when they ask for $15 million, you know they don't actually feel like victims, especially when they ask for $5 million from the schools. 15 million because he was upset for a bit? now it sounds like it was all part of a plan
Literally everyone in this story is a retard, god damn
I mean yeah, not like you got awards, got to meet countless popular and important people, had the entire world cheering for you or anything. All over something you didn't even fucking make. Bullshit. Hope this gets shut down.

Hope this gets shut down.
it almost certainly will - no way in hell they're getting five million dollars from a public school, for one. i'd expect them to settle out of court for an 'undisclosed amount' in a few months.
Got to meet with the President and NASA staff, various television interviews, Big Bang Theory appearence, A scholarship to Qatar, and is heralded as a young genius inventor for basically gutting a clock and having retarded school officials over-react. This is possibly the best thing to ever happen in the kid's life, I am really doubting they are experiencing "physical and mental anguish". 15$ Million dollars is an insane price to ask for, there's no way being wrongly detained and interrogated for a short period on one single day was so devasting that he needs all that money to repair his life.
When you ask for 15 or 5 million. You are not the victim.
what the hell will they even do with the money? stay in qatar and become members of the minor gentry?
Someone didn't fucking watch South Park.
Best situation he could play is for him to be on the stand or manage to make a public announcement (to be on camera for the 5 oclock news) and for him to denounce his parents and ask for custody by non family members in the pursuit of obtaining the best education he can to better society then to bring it down. That way he shows that he has a strong mind that can is capable of being a benefit to society then some puppet for people's ideology. But a kid who had money to get such housing to build something any average kid his age would do, has a small chip in his tooth which get's a better tooth in return by others, but an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth has to be paid in full huh.
Why is this thread getting more attention than the thread about two drug companies merging together and not paying any taxes which is far more important and worthy of getting mad about than some kids family demanding $15 million when in reality they won't actually be getting $15 million?

I really hate it when people go too far playing the victim over a minor issue, they can fuck off.
This kids dad is like the Muslim balloon boys dad
i wonder what the kid thinks of this and the school should countersue with something i don't know what yet just something.
Milk the drama cow for all it's worth. Fuck this kid and his family, the whole situation is stupid political cartoon that came true.

It's like reading about water being wet.

Really though expecting the 5 million from the school is shit, considering it's money that's supposed to be paying for people's education. The teachers and others involved sound like shitheads, but taking 5 million would be punishing the students, not them.
I still love how the ending of this story is he will be going to Qatar, where he will be surrounded by human rights violations and extreme Islamic preachers at the little education city of his.
"physical and mental anguish" this dick. The day after the ordeal went down, they posted a pic on twitter of the whole family smiling with the caption "going to see our lawyer" https://twitter.com/istandwithahmed/status/644179809170509824

lol, I can't wait till this kid gets fucked up the ass by the real world.
lol, I can't wait till this kid gets fucked up the ass by the real world.
More likely, as has already happened. the world is going to bend over for him.

This kid doesn't affect any of you in any way, while companies tax evading certainly does. If all this anger was directed towards that maybe something would get done, its slim but you've got a better chance at that than whatever people are trying to accomplish by getting angry over this.
Big companies successfully avoiding taxes... that is not even news. It's like reading about water being wet.
and this is more newsworthy? This kid might get a couple million dollars of tax payer money whilst big corporations avoid paying tens of millions of taxes year after year, but we should be more angry at the kid because???
