Harry Chapin is an amazing singer and songwriter of the 1970s and 80s. He wrote tragic stories based on personal experiences or stories he'd heard. His music often contained colorful literary qualities, typically including deep symbolism. I'm rather disappointed that Chapin isn't more popular. I always found his music to be beautiful, yet at the same time being absolutely haunting. I find it difficult to listen to other music now; Chapin's made me search for thought and soul in songs, which is simply hard to find elsewhere. He sings a variety of songs with his band, such as slow and beautiful ones like She Sings Songs Without Words and Mismatch and fast, violent, yet thoughtful ballads like Bummer and Burning Herself He's also got a few "inbetween" kind of songs, but they all are just riddled with that sense of feeling that Chapin managed to pour into even the shortest of songs Have a bit more of a listen: Corey's Coming Short Stories and my favorite: Story of a Life
