While at the school, he meets a group of friends via a study group, and end up having various adventures and experiences within Greendale's halls. It started in 2009, and the upcoming fifth season is planned to start on January 2, 2014. Now that the new season has a date, I think it's only appropriate that a new thread is made. OP's a bit sparse, so if anybody wants me to add anything to the OP, let me know.
I started watching community a while back. It is a great show. I finished the first two seasons but never got to start the third. I hear it gets worse. And I hear for this season Troy and Pierce aren't in the main cast, which is really a downer.
The third season is still good, though I believe general consensus on the fourth is that it's not as good (I didn't care for it | Also, Dan Harmon compared it to watching his family getting raped on the beach, so yeah). But yeah, Chevy Chase left last season, and Donald Glover will be leaving this season (I think he's only in a couple of the episodes) to do his own show.

Second half of third and fourth seasons were drastically worse than first 2.5. I'm glad that old actors are coming back (Starburns, Duncan) and a bit sad that Donald and Chevy are leaving. I'll probably watch because there won't be anything else, but my hopes are not high at all.
Season 2 was easily my favorite. I LOVE this show. I still need to finish the previous season though. I have like three episodes left.
I thought this was canned at the end of last season?
Oh, yes, it's coming back! I still liked season 4, though. I know it had some horrible episodes, but it had some damn good ones, like the Body Swap episode and the Sophie B. Hawkins dance.
I absolutely hated season 4. It had some laughs, but as a whole, it ruined community for me. Like, I don't rant on about how awesome season 1 and 2 are any more purely because of how bad season 4 was. Season 3 was alright but a bit hit and miss. Probably won't watch this due to lack of Troy.
Just started watching it today, and is it bad I teared up when Abed showed his father his film project?
The first season had a bunch of emotional moments. They kind of took them out of the rest of the series.
I'm so glad that Dan Harmon is back for season 5.
The first season had a bunch of emotional moments. They kind of took them out of the rest of the series.
I think that's what is starting to kill Community, honestly. It's starting to lose a little bit of heart and sincerity to it. They need to find that balance they had between being ridiculous and being sincere like they did in Season 2.
Six seasons and a movie! [editline]a[/editline] Also:

The last season seemed like they were just desperately trying to be Dan Harmon, and missing all the subtleties
I think that's what Dan Harmon might bring back to it. The last season seemed like they were just desperately trying to be Dan Harmon, and missing all the subtleties
But remember that Harmon was involved with Season 3, so he has the capacity to make some errors while trying to do something that he probably shouldn't. While it was an interesting take on a sitcom to have a large overarching story throughout the season, it ended up sacrificing a lot more than what it gained. My expectations are for something similar to the quality of Season 3, but I won't complain if he ends up matching or surpassing Season 2.
Personally, I think season one is the most solid. Despite the show's growing period, it managed to keep things balanced and believable. Only episode I didn't care for was the chicken mafia one, but I don't watch mafia movies so all that I really caught was everyone behaving out of character for the sake of the mafia jokes. I assume. Anyway, it wasn't that funny for me. After that though, the episodes where they obviously parody things became more and more prevalent until it seemed like the characters were only there to be parodies, even of themselves. Anyway, I stopped watching halfway into season 3, and I think I saw the ending. It had a few good moments but most of it I didn't really care for. Like Archer, it became necessary to be in the know on a whole bunch of other, un-related things in order to understand the jokes, instead of the characters being what made the show good.
Sucks Donald is leaving, Donalds the main reason I even got into it.

Second part of third season was almost as bad as fourth season, even with Harmon on board.
I recall reading somewhere that with the third season, Harmon wanted to break away from Greendale and not have it be the focus of the season, but he felt the fourth season was too disconnected from the school. And because of that, this next season was going to feature the school more.
Looks like Tim and Eric are guest stars for the next season. This'll be interesting http://www.avclub.com/articles/communitys-guest-stars-will-also-include-mitch-hur,104907/ The current list of guest stars so far includes Jonathan Banks, Walton Goggins, Nathan Fillion, John Oliver, LeVar Burton, Brie Larson, Ben Folds, Robert Patrick, Kumail Nanjiani, Paget Brewster, and Rob Corddry.
so, i heard s3 and s4 arent as good , but have some good episodes. s5 isn't on netflix, so i can't watch it. What's the best s3/s4 episodes, or should I just watch them all? Also, is S5 on any netflix?
S5 isnt out yet. Best S4 episodes are the Thanksgiving one (Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations), the Sophie B. Hawkins dance one (Herstory of Dance), the Christmas one (Intro to Knots), the Puppet one (Intro to Felt Surrogacy) and the body switch one (Basic Human Anatomy). You should also watch the first and last episodes of the season, although they aren't the best. Heroic Origins too, I like that one. Do avoid Conventions of Space and Time, and watch the others if you have time.
David Cross will be guest starring in a Dungeons and Dragons themed episode this season! http://www.vulture.com/2013/11/david-cross-will-guest-star-on-community.html
Watched a few episodes since it came on comedy central and I'm hooked. Are there any good sites to watch the episodes? Sucks it's not on netflix instant qeue.
If you watch Netflix in your browser, download the HolaUnblocker plugin (I believe it's available on both Chrome and Firefox) and switch to the Canadian VPN for Netflix. The first four seasons are up there.
The rumours were true. Jeff [sp]is going to be a teacher of Law class.[/sp]
I now understand why the first new episode is called "RePilot"
So they're sort of playing it off at a spinoff? Imagine if Harmon wanted to make the most meta thing ever created and intentionally made it terrible.
