WITHOUT cutting out Marlon Brando.. Here is the story, The director of the original movie, which is a superb movie and landmark in superhero movies, was fired before all the scenes were completed for Superman 2. They hired this other dude, who had to add a few of his creations to make the movie more "HIS" than the other director. What resulted, was a lot of cheesy scenes that were unnecessary and added more humour and weirdness to it. The thing is, is that it wasn't a bad movie at all, but it wasn't as good as it could've been. From then on, Superman affiliated movies were simply garbage. Cheese on a scale, that is just rotten, but still enjoyable... and villains that were terrible. But NOW. I want to forget that it ever happened. Because then.... I discovered the version that was meant to be. Although unfinished, which is unfortunate, it still is more keeping to how I would've liked it to have been done. Maturity, basically. Because the original Superman movie, is a masterful work. Now that... is amazing. When this is rebooted with Chris Nolan's gang calling it "The Man of Steel", I am there. Superman Returns just wasn't there for me. But this Donner cut, brought back the Superman movie, that was awesome.
So not one person has seen it?
I never heard of it, but now I'm interested. Is it almost a completely different film?
Well, its the same movie, but told in the style of the original director. The scenes he made put into the movie to give it a lot better feel and experience as they being very different scenes.. But due to the fact that the shooting wasn't complete, it isn't as whole as the first one. However, it is so much more moving than the original Superman 2. Also, the villains are shown to be a lot more mature and awesome :smug: I saw both versions in a box set in a store, i recommend it.
Am I alone on this? I watched Superman as a kid :v:
I saw the Donner cut when I was in the hospital. After that I went to Wikipedia to learn the differences and will now never bother watching Richard Lesner's cut (or Superman 3 and 4, I'll just stick with Donner's films), since it's the same scenes but re-filmed. The Donner cut is like 85% all Donner stuff, though, so it really like is his movie. Also, the Man of Steel isn't technically a reboot, it's a sequel to Superman Returns.
I don't think I'll never watch the Lester cut again, those Eiffel tower and Niagra Falls scenes will always be with me :v: Superman 3 and 4 are terrible, but I still love them too. I think Man of Steel will be a lot different in terms of style to Superman Returns. [editline]09:51PM[/editline] Also, THOSE god awful teleport scenes and s shaped shield that he threw.. All awesome :smug:
I just watched this, the fucking ending is completely retarded. Loved the first half though and how it's more serious
I just watched this, the fucking ending is completely retarded.
Its a tribute to the original. I don't think the ending would've been like that if it was completed. :smug:
Even so I am dissapoint
Be appreciative :v: At least they are making a new superman with hopefully a little more sense!
