Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart are in talks to star in the Weinstein Co.’s “The Intouchables,” a remake of the 2011 Olivier Nakache/Eric Toledano French dramedy.
Sources have exclusively told Variety that Simon Curtis is attached to direct the remake.
The original was released by the Weinstein Co. in 2011, grossing $416 million overseas. The movie follows an aristocrat who, after becoming a paraplegic following a paragliding accident, hires a young man from the projects to be his caregiver.
Well seeing as the French made a version of The French Connection it seems fair.
And for the record it was called The Connection.
I love Intouchables, but I'm not sure how I feel about Kevin Hart or Bryan Cranston in those roles.
Could be decent, but I feel like Kevin Hart isnt right for this role

Well Bryan Cranston pulled off a sociopathic drug making middleaged surban husband, I'm sure he can pull off being a man from the streets
I fucking loved that movie, so I'm happy they are making an English version but scared that they will ruin it.
Why make a remake like 4-5 years after the movie came out. Just put some subtitles on the bitch.
I haven't seen him in anything recently but isn't Kevin Hart a shitty actor.

That would actually be fucking awesome if they were to pull the switch, but that would actually be interesting and not boring/straight-up stealing content so it ain't gonna happen
One of my favourite movies, though I'm a bit skeptical on an american remake, I really don't see how it's necessary.

Subtitles are too hard to read
not needed just go and watch The Intouchables
damn i just watched this in a class on humor in writing a few weeks ago, classic film. favorite bit is the shaving sequence near the end. i can't imagine how they could do it better in English - subtitles are just fine for me
Misread that as "The Untouchables" and got momentarily excited about the prospect of Heisenberg gunning down Al Capone's goons.
Ah well a man can dream. I expect this one to go about as well as the American remake of "The Secret in their Eyes" which is to say not very well at all.
A remake?
Fucking seriously?
Why on earth is that necessary?
English speaking people can't watch it with subs or what?
They're probably thinking more of a market point of view, if they remake a well received film with actors that are pretty famous at the moment, it will get a bigger return.

Who knows. It's the roles he takes that suck, but maybe he's got what it takes beyond that? If Adam Sandler can pull an amazingly dramatic yet somberly hilarious character I'll give Kevin the benefit of the doubt.
I know some films just don't need to be remade, but I'm just giving my two cents on Kevin. Ya never know.
The original is very good. One of my favourite films. It's on Netflix and you can just watch it with subtitles. An absolute tear-jerker. This film stands strong and simply does not require a remake, especially not a mere four or five years after the original was released.
