A few minutes ago I was about to go to the store with my mom, and my cousin, who lives with us, decided to go. Problem is, she was VERY clearly drunk, laughing at everything, never shutting up, etc. So I bailed because I got REALLY uncomfortable REALLY quickly.
This isn't the first time it's happened, my mom was throwing a barbecue on 4th of July, and there was drinking, and I pretty much stayed in my room because of it.
Why do I get so uncomfortable around drunk people? I don't understand it.
because you're a socially misfit teenager looking for dumb excuses not to be around other people
yeah when I was living at home my 10y/o little sister used to get mad at any family members for getting drunk and feel the same way. it comes with being a little girl.
It's because they are relatives. You should try going to a party with some people you know, or a party with a load of teenage twats (ie a regular party).

This. Drunk people are hilarious.
Plus, it's your cousin, drunk family members would be far less hilarious then, say, a drunk acquaintance/friend.

Thanks for assuming every person on earth is like your little sister. And I don't get mad, I just feel uncomfortable.

If you bother reading any of it you'll notice they were all his relatives.

just sayin you might be a little girl
drunk people liven the mood
maybe because it's relatives and you are not an Independent Person you feel Uncomfortable at knowing your Providers Might Be Hurt by Being Drunk and Cannot Provide for You
just sayin you might be a little girl

I'm not a little girl, trust me.
just sayin you might be a little girl

Not fucking relatives, they just dampen the mood and make everything awkward, unless they are awesome people.
It's true, they do, also being drunk is awesome, you should try it sometime.
ok well if a relative just drinks all the time you might be uncomfortable because you lack the sensibility to CONFRONT THEM about their PROBLEM and thus (subconsciously or not) want to avoid it
Just get drunk yourself and then you wont feel uncomfortable about anything.
I don't need to get drunk, it won't solve anything. I'll only become one of the people I'm uncomfortable around
I don't need to get drunk, it won't solve anything. I'll only become one of the people I'm uncomfortable around
You sound like a looser.
I don't need to get drunk, it won't solve anything. I'll only become one of the people I'm uncomfortable around
yeah to be honest from this quote it sounds like it might be a mental disorder related to previous trauma or maybe even post traumatic stress disorder after someone you know/are related to was in some way impacted by drinking and it Touched you Deeply
i'd ask your mother to sign you up for a psychiatrist
Because they're having more fun than you. Loser.
drunk family members are always awkward especially when they're adults
cousins? meh
still strange, they're the people you grew up with
If you bother reading any of it you'll notice they were all his relatives.
The OP was relatively short and I read the entire thing
my opinion stands

Yeah thanks I'll get right on it

It's a temporary solution.
You ran from your drunk cousin? And some SOBER people laugh at everything and never shut up, so it does sound like social anxiety
ok well if a relative just drinks all the time you might be uncomfortable because you lack the sensibility to CONFRONT THEM about their PROBLEM and thus (subconsciously or not) want to avoid it
The issue isn't their drinking problem, but the fact that they aren't fun to party with.

People that are sober that do that are just plain annoying. I don't run away from them or anything
I don't need to get drunk, it won't solve anything. I'll only become one of the people I'm uncomfortable around
You can't be uncomfortable when you're drunk unless you're being sodomized or you're sick.

Drunk people can be hilarious, but there are plenty of reasons not to stick around them.
I personally know someone who was going to law school with the goal of being a lawyer. One night, he and his friends were in some hotel on a trip, got drunk, and had the bright idea to head towards the pool. One of the particularly drunk (and particularly stupid) members of the group grabbed the moose head off the fireplace mantle and dragged it into the pool.
The head was worth just enough for the destruction to be considered a felony. The person I know, coincidentally, was the only one that didn't get drunk. He was, however, the oldest in the group and was charged with the crime. As such, he can never be a lawyer.
Hang out with drunks at your own risk.
I only feel uncomfortable to people who are the responsible figure(parents or adults etc.) where I am, if I'm with friends then it's fucking hilarious!!!!!
I don't very much like drunk people either.
Especially when my friend who is very racist when he's drunk decides to scream racial slurs about mexicans in a very hispanic neighborhood.

Advil0 is THAT GUY. You know. The guy that steers away from parties drugs alcohol and all that.
drugs and alcohol are bad for you
just being AT A PARTY WHERE PEOPLE ARE CONSUMING ALCOHOL doesn't make you automatically drunk actually it puts you in quite the powerful position as you are sober
but being scared of your own family at a 4th of july barbeque is not normal.
