Friendly reminder that this game exists, that it's awesome, and that it's constantly getting better.
The end scene is fucking brutal.
I fucking love this game
That end.
I've loved every one of these updates. I bought the game twice over just to support them.
Every one of these is some really great stuff, sometimes not even seen in other games, which they just write off casually as "oh we just kinda wanted to add three dimensional sound based stealth as well as visual."
gaming will reach a new milestone once the average game has as much TECHNOLOGY as overgrowth.
like holy shit dude. i don't even think about half of this stuff when i'm playing games.
The fact you get games like Receiver by preordering Overgrowth, is just like taking an already great ice cream sundae, and adding a cherry and chocolate fudge.
so I start the game to check out the good news,

Overgrowth is kind of the best kind of Early Access. It's constantly getting updates but also you get videos explaining their purpose, how to use them, and how it affects gameplay.

This is also why I like Rust. A detailed view of updates is fun to read.
I still remember when they first showed off the dripping blood. It blew my mind then and it's still blowing my mind now
Man, I remember playing the alpha ages ago and I was blown away over how fucking awesome it was. I think it was the physics and the combat system that really got me.
I wonder when he's going to start fleshing out a story for all of this, if he does at all. Anyone know if he's going for like an arena-type game, or is there a plan for a plot?

There's an ongoing official webcomic that they'll probably base the plot around. With all the factions of different races and everything, I'm sure they can come up with something. http://www.wolfire.com/comic#1
I hope i'm still alive by the time this game comes out.

You realize most of this stuff is already in many (most?) games right? You just get to see it exposed and explained here. It has a lot of impressive stuff, especially for being a 2 man thing (if I recall correctly), but a lot of the stuff they show is in most games.
This stuff was and kinda still is mindblowing back then but you kinda feel like modern gaming tech is starting to catch up :v:
Pre-ordered this like.. 2 years ago, forgot about it really.
Thanks OP!
I've never played it but from what people are saying about the game, this is the example of a videogame developed by true developers who put alot of love into their games. What we need is more game developers like this.

IIRC these devs are also the people who founded the Humble Bundle.
So. Yes. Absolutely.

I don't know, stuff like dynamic localized wounds with dynamic blood is absent from most games these days.
