Twenty-two primary school children were wounded in a knife attack Friday in central China, authorities said.
The attack took place at the entrance to the Chenpeng Village Primary School in Henan province, according to the public information department of Guangshan county, the area where the school is located. An adult was also wounded, it said.
Several of the children are in critical condition, the state-run website Chinanews.com said, citing local authorities.
Police say they have detained a suspect, a 36-year-old man from the village, state media reported.
Initial assessments suggest the man is mentally ill, Chinanews.com said, citing Guangshan authorities.
China was hit by a spate of knife and cleaver attacks that targeted school children in 2010.
A number of measures were introduced at the time, including increased security at schools across the country and a regulation requiring people to register with their national ID cards when buying large knives.

Fun Fact:
The biggest mass casualty events in Japan are caused by knife attacks.
The biggest School "Shooting" in Japan was actually a knife attack.

China is very strict. smoking weed can get you the death penalty.
if you don't live in the city, Beijing for example, you can't use their hospitals nor buy property

If you look under "Mass Killings" for Japan there are literally three events excluding Terrorists attacks listed.

That what?
You have some pro-gun agenda you want to reinforce?
That what?
You have some pro-gun agenda you want to reinforce?
No? Where did you get that? It was just sort of reinforcement that knife attacks can be deadly as well and that this wasn't the first time it's happened at a school.
I never went for a political angle because I don't care about that.
First this, now the Connecticut tragedy :(
What happened in Connecticut?
Keep in mind this is 22 wounded, not dead.
The death count here is much much lower than the one in Connecticut.
I wasn't comparing the two :/

Anyways...man what makes people that sick? Those bastards shall get hanged...
Why the fuck would anyone rate this funny?
That doesn't even get on the High Score board.
It's not a competition.
Well it kind of is but you know what I mean
I was told by this by a friend.
I think we need to ban knife handles. Then incidents like these wouldn't happen. After all how are you gonna kill 30 people in 30 seconds with out these knife handles.

There's a pretty good 'cutting class' joke ready to go but out of respect for what's happened today I won't mention it.
iirc Japan has strict gun laws
You need to get a license, go through training, and be on a waiting list to get an air gun, the most lethal gun most civilians can own.
Coincidentally (consequently?) they have almost nonexistant gun homicide rates; 11 in 2008, or less than .1 out of 100,000 people
Ban all sharp objects
