Just a few pieces of jewelery I've created recently. Will update as I photograph the rest of my work. Thread Dispenser This is a thread dispenser. For sewers, seamstresses and anybody else in need of thread. The dispenser sits on the back of the hand, tied down with string - one loop around the middle finger, one loop around the wrist. Cold-rivets holding it all together. One of a pair; I designed these so that they would contrast heavily with each other (and therefore push the wearer to wear both at once to get the full effect of the works). The left-hand dispenser has a full reel of thread (several colours). It's smooth, almost unblemished. The right-hand dispenser is rough, beaten up. The surface is darkened (I used a blow torch), blemished and scratched. The reel of thread is empty. The idea here is that the thread represents the amount of life left; the dispenser itself represents a person's experiences and scars. The left-hand dispenser is full; unscarred, untainted youth, with a whole life left to live. The right-hand dispenser is empty; rough, aged, experienced, near-death (we all know that reels empty faster the nearer you get to the end). The contrast is obvious visually, even from a distance. The darkened colour of the aged-piece looks great beside the bronze copper of the other piece. Copper, bent, hammered, cut, filed, cold-riveted. Patina effect applied then design scratched onto surface. Five strips of copper, bent, hammered, cold-riveted. Tied off with thick copper wire at final join. Looks a bit too steampunk.
Looks a bit too steampunk.
That's not necessarily a bad thing. I like them, although those life & death bracelets are extremely large. The bangle would be pretty cool on a bigger man dressed up as a 19th century bruiser type person.

But after reading through several art-jewelery books these pieces look strangely easy to wear, haha.
They are too large :(
