On a call with surrogates Thursday afternoon, top advisers John Podesta and Jennifer Palmieri pinned blame for Hillary Clinton’s loss on a host of uncontrollable headwinds that ultimately felled a well-run campaign that executed a sensible strategy, and a soldier of a candidate who appealed to the broadest coalition of voters in the country.
They shot down questions about whether they should have run a more populist campaign with a greater appeal to angry white voters, pointing to exit polls that showed Clinton beat Trump on the issue of the economy. They explained that internal polling from May showed that attacking Trump on the issue of temperament was a more effective message.
They offered no apology for the unexpected loss.
[...]
The soaring Obamacare premiums announced last month hurt Clinton, some said; others questioned the campaign’s decision to try and expand the map into red Arizona rather than simply defend the most likely, narrow paths to 270 electoral votes; others blamed Bernie Sanders for “poisoning” millennial voters who never came back on board.
And there goes my hope lessons were learned.
"Let's try to save face by making ourselves look even worse rather than acknowledging our shortcomings, that'll definitely convince people we're a party to be supported!"
It's easy to observe the depressed Democratic turnout without even getting into the possibility of running a populist campaign to win blue collar working class independents. She simply did not appeal to enough people in her own party and it shows when she loses states that Obama won handily.

What is wrong with these people?
well-run campaign

sensible strategy

a soldier of a candidate
there will never be any getting through to these sorts of people
And there goes my hope lessons were learned.
...and shit like this doesn't set a good precedent either.
Some DNC staffers started to boo and some told him to sit down. Brazile began to answer, but Zach had more to say.
[...]
A third attendee told HuffPost that, despite Zach’s blow-up, there was “overwhelming” support for Brazile in the room.
Don't forget, Donna Brazile was the one who gave Clinton the leaked Debate question, and that Tim Kaine used to be the head of the DNC before he had stepped aside for D.W.S to take the position. I don't think that they've learned shit.
I don't doubt Trump would have done the same, it's been clear to me that this election was a shitshow between two assclowns unfit for the office.
At least I have a versatile sense of humor and can at least laugh while it all burns, this election was certainly entertaining.
[editline]I can't believe I have to do this[/editline]
I don't think the impending issue of Climate Change (which Trump does not believe in), the loss of LGBT rights, or the harassment of muslims, women, blacks, etc is any laughing matter.
Yes, frantic sobbing and warily looking at the tasty end of a shotgun is a much much better course of action. We should just all give up now and resign ourselves to our fate.

It's official: I'm fucking done with the DNC and with Clinton.
I'm at the point where I outright regret my vote. Trump is a disaster waiting to happen but that doesn't justify using my democratic voice to support these hacks. After this entire response to their crushing loss and particularly what TheJoey linked in another thread I can't support this anymore.
I'm sorry to srobins and some other people for being so stubborn on this point. You were all right, and I was wrong. I wish I could say I was paid to shill as hard as I did but that's not even true. I just invested way too much energy in defending a monstrous abomination of American politics.
This doesn't exactly make her look better in light of South park and that meme's depiction of her where she calculates shapes.
How do we change the DNC without having a presence already there? All efforts to attempt to fix their system have failed thus far.
This video I posted in the Video Subforum gives good food for thought.

This video gives an interesting and introspective glimpse into the shortcomings of why Hillary lost, delving into how she mainly prioritized party insiders and Republicans fearful of Trump over motivating blue collar workers as well as other topics.
I had heard that they spent the majority on the presidency but that level of arrogance is astounding. To think that they thought they could ignore most the countrys elected positions and still hold claim on the highest office of the land is simply breath taking. I hope in two years time the democratic party pulls its head out of the sand and recognizes why they lost, otherwise we're in for this happening more in the future.
I just realized: There are a LOT of people who aren't going to get any returns from their 'donations'.

Don't forget how they had the audacity to give D.W.S. an honorary position for Clinton, while replacing her with the person who leaked Clinton debate questions. I'm fucking astounded that they dropped the ball during such an important election with irreversible issues like Climate Change. Guess it wasn't Her Turn after all. Jesus, this fucking election.
It makes me glad to read this, hopefully more people realize this and vote for a real option in the next elections, this one has been a disaster but at least we've avoided a Clinton presidency followed by a complete disaster with her sphere of influence
Trump's presidency will be very polarized from beginning to end and most people are done with the DNC after what they've pulled this cycle, hopefully by the next election a strong third party can arise not led by this disgusting political elite
Don't get it twisted; I still think Trump is bad for America and I have absolutely no optimism that Trump will do anything to stop the political elite. I just went from hating one to hating both.

It's fucking infuriating watching Clinton's terrible campaign drag down Democrats downticket then read a story that was posted in May that I somehow never saw describing Clinton and the DNC essentially taking money from state parties and using it to campaign for Clinton in the middle of the primary against Sanders.
The silver lining to this election is that Hillary Clinton will never be in public office ever again.

You have to admire the dedication of these bottomfeeders to their strategy. Even after losing the fucking election they insist that their polling somehow represents the true and just desires of the American voter. lmao

We all make mistakes and this is a good opportunity for all of us to really figure out what the hell is wrong with ourselves, our conduct, and our country. Even if that apology wasn't extended toward my direction, I'll still say that I forgive you. Shit happens.

I don't know how I forgot about you. I just remember srobins but I butted heads with you on the subject a lot. You were right, I was wrong, and I should have seen this shit far sooner.

It's ok dude. The parties played us all this election. Fuck politics.
Unless Trump runs for reelection, the DNC is fucked next time since they won't be able to run on the immensely compelling, heavily nuanced platform of "Not Trump"
...of course, they can always just repeat what they did this election and use another "Pied Piper" candidate!

tbh it's the truth. As soon as I learned about the economic policies my mind was made but everyone else just goes and talks about temperament and corruption.

The fact you admit that you was wrong makes you better than most tbh

It's not a big deal, the election's over with and if you're looking at this and going, "yeah I think I made a mistake," then that's great and it's an opportunity for learning. I apologize for my own misconduct, sometimes I let frustration get way, way ahead of me.

How many people do you think here genuinely supported Clinton? All of us?
As much as I dread Trump having won, I sure am glad as hell Clinton lost. She was not worthy of being the first woman President. That honor belongs to someone far better than the pompous and entitled likes of her.
Donald Trump hasn't even been inaugurated yet and he's already bringing us together, it's like a Christmas miracle. This is the part where I apologize for being a bullheaded cunt whenever the DNC was brought up, sorry everybody (especially Raidyr). Here's to 4 more years of shitposting.. together.

Everyone I've spoken to about this election (aside from the like, 2 genuine Clinton supporters I know) have basically said as much: "It sucks that Trump won, but I'm so happy Clinton lost"

I can agree with you on that much.
I don't regret my vote yet, though I'm pissed that it had to go to someone like her.
...snarky comments aside, an actual upside is that we've prevented another instance of US Presidential Dynasties beyond the Bush family. Imagine if Hillary got two terms and/or Chelsea Clinton eventually decided to run.
