• Obama hits campaign trail for first time since leaving White House
(Reuters) - Former President Barack Obama returns to the campaign trail on Thursday for the first time since he left the White House, venturing out to support Democrats in two governor’s races that could offer a clue about the national mood before next year’s midterm elections. Obama, who has spoken at private party fundraisers but largely steered clear of electoral politics since leaving office in January, will make public appearances on behalf of Democratic candidates in Virginia and New Jersey - the only two states holding off-year elections for governor. Those Nov. 7 contests will be closely watched to see if Democrats can turn the grassroots resistance to Republican President Donald Trump into electoral wins after falling short earlier this year in four competitive special congressional elections. The race in the political battleground of Virginia, in particular, is viewed as a potential bellwether. Opinion polls show a close contest between Democrat Ralph Northam, the state’s lieutenant governor, and Republican Ed Gillespie, a former Republican National Committee chairman who has been endorsed by Trump. Obama carried Virginia in both 2008 and 2012, and Democrat Hillary Clinton won the state over Trump by 5 percentage points in 2016. Obama’s vice president, Joe Biden, appeared recently with Northam, while Vice President Mike Pence campaigned in southwest Virginia’s coal country for Gillespie. The Democrats candidate in New Jersey suggested making the state into a sanctuary state if Trump moves forward against DACA. It would be nuts if he actually wins
Barack Obama should just run up to Trump and beat the shit out of him. The secret service is still obligated to protect Obama, so they wouldn't be able to stop him. He's the only man alive who can do it.

Obama needs to get his wife to run for president and be the man in the shadows. I'd vote for her, even if her lunch idea for schools sucked.
Both Bush's, Bill, and Carter could all join in too
Jimmy Carter just pelts peanuts at trump
Both Bush's, Bill, and Carter could all join in too
I'm just imagining a massive six-way showdown in a ring on pay-per-view, with some Secret Service moshpit surrounding the arena.
it would be a battle of the secret service agents, but Trump's would win because they get to hang out at maralago every weekend and they don't want to lose that sweet gig
No, Trump's secret service agents are probably fat and lazy like he is because they've been spending so much time at that place. They've probably gotten pretty stupid, too, because they've had to listen to Donald Trump talking for almost ten(!) months by this point. Obama, by contrast, no doubt keeps his secret service agents in tip-top shape, mentally and physically. Secret service agents reflect what they protect.
Wasn't there a news story a while back that Trump's secret service are grossly underpaid and he's relying on private security for the most part? Obama would probably be able to walk right up to Trump and suplex him, the secret service probably wouldn't be bothered saving Trump and/or join Obama's secret service. What fan fiction are we writing

The Tagline: "Only a president can stop the president" The trailer would be heavily washed out, through the cafe's meshed curtains you see two fbi agents, a man and a woman walking through the rain toward the door with chipped paint and rotting wood. The bell rings as the door opens. Int he cafe there is only one customer, wearing a faded baseball cap, nondescript jacket, sat in the corner. He doesn't look up. "you can't hide here forever president, your country needs you one last time" Obama looks up, through a heavy stubble and wrinkled skin he curls a wry smile.

Though sadly, I'm no Anton Sokolov.
