Buy a truck from a Florida Car Dealer, get a free AK-47!
Instead of offering a free toaster or a trip to the Bahamas, a Florida truck dealership decided to do something different for the holiday’s: Anyone who buys a truck, will get a free AK-47.
“We wanted to come up with a promotion, that would stir interest,” said Nick Ginetta, the general sales manager at Nations Trucks in Sanford, Fla. “Well, business has tripled in the last few days.”
Mr. Ginetta kicked off the promotion last Wednesday on Veteran’s Day.”So many veteran’s have given so much for our right to bare arms,” he says. “That’s why I did it, when I did it.”
The store does not actually sell the iconic Soviet-era rifle. Instead, people hoping to own the most popular battle rifle of all time are given a $400 voucher that can be redeemed at a local firearms store. The retail price of the rifle is approximately $900.
“I chose the AK-47, because I knew it would create a stir. I knew the anti-gun crowd would be appalled,” he said. “If I gave away a Remington pump-action shotgun, I wouldn’t be on the phone with you.”
While Mr. Ginetta says he would have preferred to offer an American-made battle rifle, he says the cost would have been to high for him.
The sale has proven to be so popular, that people outside of the United States are asking if they are eligible for the sale. “I’ve had to tell Canadians that I can’t give them the vouchers,” he says. “Instead, people who can’t own or don’t want to own it can get $400 for themselves.”
Did Mr. Ginetta take advantage of the sale?
“I’m a gun owner, but it’s not a gun I’m interested in owning right now.”
Everyone who purchases the weapon must pass a state and federal application process, including a police background check.
In order to own the rifle in Florida, you must be an American citizen, free of any criminal convictions and willing to wait a three day waiting period. There is no licence required to own the rifle. In Canada, the AK-47 is classified as a prohibited weapon under federal law.
I have no idea what to say to be quite honest. That just seems like a bad idea to give every redneck a full automatic weapon.
Gotta love them freak AK47s
OP, you do realize automatic weapons are illegal, correct?
Oh okay, I guess I should go to Florida for the summer and take advantage of this deal!
Buy a car, get a $400 certificate for the AK. Gotta admit, that'd be pretty bad-ass.
OP, you do realize automatic weapons are illegal, correct?
From what I heard, they used to be somewhat illegal in the sense that you had to basically show you weren't using it for anything except target practice, but that still meant getting bugged by figures of authority. I don't think, at least here in Florida, that happens anymore.
I should go do this, it'd only be a few hour drive.
I should note there's not as many rednecks as you would think there are here. There's a lot, but not nearly as much as people make it out to be..
How nice, they're giving away free theft deterrent systems.
Keep in mind, all these guns come from a store anyways, so it's not as if one is cheating the system by getting a gun through this guy.

Only the fully automatic versions are illegal.

It's probably not a full auto AK.
Typical clueless OP.
It's a semi-automatic WASR 10/63.
Fully automatic AK-47s run in the few thousand range, easy, and require a tax permit.

Yeah the rednecks are mostly in the north of Florida. Still, given that Florida is relatively anti gun control it'll still be popular.
Only in the USA :colbert:

Yeah, that's usually how it works.
I've always wanted a truck, guess I know who I'm buying my first car from.

Its funny because fully automatic weapons cost shit tons of money, and in most states, a class 3 permit with a shit ton of paperwork. He also said, if they don't want the AK, they can take $400 instead. That means its probably some shitty WASR AK.
Only the fully automatic versions are illegal.
He clearly stated that he thought the AK-47s being distributed were selective-fire. I didn't say semi-automatic firearms are illegal.

Sorry that I'm not a gun nerd.
All hail your supreme gun nerdy-ness.

I hope you know that half of Florida is contested with latinos. Even worse, in my opinion.

Typical rednecks, don't practice what you preach if it's inconvenient.

no they aren't
I guess he won't be driving unleaded

Gun nerd? It's better than playing all those action games like MW2, saying you'll shoot someone, when someone who actually knows two shits about guns can actually use it.

Most gun nerds I met can't shoot worth a damn (or even operate a gun for that matter)

Uh, Facepunch has its fair share of actual gun owners.

I know how to shoot guns as well, have been for the past 13 or so years. Doesn't mean I have to go around correcting people about guns.
Most gun nerds I met can't shoot worth a damn (or even operate) a gun
I just don't think anyone should put "nerd" at the end of it. You might make some rednecks angry.
On a side note, I wouldn't call myself a gun nerd, but I can use one, and we own plenty of them, including an AK47.
I live in florida. Time to go buy a car
and we own plenty of them, including an AK47.
AKA daddy does but he gets mad and hits me if I go near it

These puns are coming at a pretty good clip
