This movie had potential to be good, but in the end it sucked. Parts of it did not make sense, acting was bad 90% of the time and the [CGI / effects] ranged from ok to awful. The plot felt non existent, like we were just going from scene to scene. The last quarter of the movie was enjoyable but by then it was too late.
The main problem with this movie is that every scene was trying to look like a video game, instead of adapting the games story they just made it look like the game.
[sp]The princes father was assassinated by a poison cloak, which did not make any sense. He simply put it on and died.[/sp]
I give this movie a 4/10
If you want to see a good example of a video game adaption go see Silent Hill.
Thanks for saving me money

Don't listen to him, go see it.
I just got back and I have to say that was $10 well spent.

And a magical dagger that can turn back time does make sense?
It was okay...They could have done a million times better though.
The movie was terrible. My friends were making fun of it the entire time. Parts of the plot didnt make sense, there was a lot of slow-mo and sped up parts, and I didnt like the ending that much. Only thing I liked was the talkative desert leader and the tribal guy, and the suicidal ostrich. Oh and throwing a dagger out of a very tall tower and landing right next to the good guys was stupid.

Oh god.
You're one of those fucking groups of people that never shut the fuck up in movies. I hate you.

Unless the movie is terrible, and the group is a certain man and his 2 robots.

only exception
That new film was pretty good though, nothing great but still entertaining
The silent hill film was terrible though

Silent Hill had a plot, and it didn't feel like we were watching someone play a video game.
I thought the film was kinda cool :frown:
when it comes to these kind of movies, one question:
how much action?
Just got back from watching, and it's not that bad. Sure it wasn't incredible, but it was still fun to watch. Trust the guy who made a theme park ride into a good movie to make a decent video game movie. It just always bugs me that in american filmography, everyone who isn't from the US or Russia speaks with a british accent.
[sp]I also liked how they managed to pull a twist on the old disney formula: Kill the father, the brothers, the likable black guy, and the love interest... but hey! They all come back to life! It also bugged me that the entire comedic relationship between the prince and the princess just kinda poofs away when they turn back time.[/sp]
Watched it on opening day. It's a pretty entertaining blockbuster. A bit stupid at times, but thats expected from a big action movie like this.
[sp] Also, the whole "turn back time and everyone comes back to life" thing DOES happen in the game's plot. So this is actually one of the few indications that they're following the game's plot. [/sp]

[sp]It's insinuated that their "liking each other" is still there[/sp]
I loved this movie! It was really good, and that poison cloak part did make sense and it was really good.
I watched it and it's a great movie, I don't see how anyone could hate it.
Hey people have different tastes... unless the movie is a Waterworld copycat
the movie rocked
One of the few good game to movies I've seen.
Don't listen to OP, this movie is pretty good.
Its the best Video Game movie adaptation I've ever seen (Which isn't saying much), but it isn't the summer blockbuster Disney would want.

Its a movie about a prince controlling time, of course there are going to be some sort of slowing/speeding effects :colbert:
I personally didn't like it much. They tried hard and the acting was good but it just didn't feel like the Prince of Persia. If they had named it something else I wouldn't have cared. It was average.
It's one of the few video game adaptations that isn't shit.
With that said, it was so generic and saturated with "Disney PG-13" that I honestly couldn't call it great. It's really only a video game movie in name and plot.
And their advertising campaign as "the next Pirates of the Carribean" didn't help it at all.
What really pisses me off is that half of the people going to see it have NO IDEA it's originally based off a video game. I mentioned it to one of my friends once and he had no idea.

Prince of Persia used to be super popular too iirc.
I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't based on the games at all, except for the dagger. I loved the games, but I knew it wasn't going to be anything like the games. I went in with low expectations and came out entertained.
6.5 or 7 out of 10.
I've heard it's a love or hate film
Loved the movie, brilliantly made and has the 'Disney' feel to it
( maybe it's because when I was watching it I didn't fucking compare it to the game? )
