"We must have a peaceful uprising to make Obama put the Koran down"
Washington (CNN) - Angered by the closure of national landmarks due to the partial government shutdown, a crowd of conservatives removed barricades Sunday at the World War II Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial as they rallied against President Barack Obama and Democrats for their role in the ongoing stalemate.
High-profile speakers with close ties to the tea party appeared at the event, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.
The rally, billed as the "Million Vet March on the Memorials," drew far fewer than a million people and evolved into a protest that resembled familiar tea party events from 2009, with yellow "Don't Tread On Me" flags throughout the crowd and strong anti-Obama language from the podium and the audience.
One speaker went as far as saying the president was a Muslim and separately urged the crowd of hundreds to initiate a peaceful uprising.
"I call upon all of you to wage a second American nonviolent revolution, to use civil disobedience, and to demand that this president leave town, to get up, to put the Quran down, to get up off his knees, and to figuratively come out with his hands up," said Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch, a conservative political advocacy group.
On the first day of the government shutdown, October 1, a group of World War II veterans was barred from entering the open-air memorial. But with the help of a few Republican members of Congress, the veterans removed the barricades and streamed onto the site, as security guards stood aside.
By being completely and utterly disconnected from the world around you.
What a loon.
I just wonder why do people call islam a bad religion? I have a feeling that some people are just too much into christianity. Also we christians have done a LOT of bad things, even more than the people who are islamic. Or is just me that the islam world gets more negative attention by the media? And before you start making arguments: I know that the Koran book is a 2-way road.

Because Muhammad himself brought down the Twin Towers, don't you know anything?
That's the general ignorance that is rampant in America.
Not surprising in the least, this party who threw the temper tantrum and took the country hostage, is now pissed that their plan backfired and their approval ratings are down. I'd go as far to say this resembles 2009 protests so much because, their ratings are the same as then (low as fuck, Obama had just got elected)

I have no clue what the fuck a Koran is. Do you mean qur'an?

I believe he meant to say Kuran.
According to Wikipedia, Kuran is a transliteration of Quran, so it is a 'proper' name to call it
It still feels like slang to me. I don't get why we have to phonetically dumb the word down.

Are all conservatives this retarded now-a-days?
Seems like it.

Because it's impossible to spell a word wrong if it doesn't exist in your language. This is Qaddafi/Ghadaffi/Gaddafi all over again.

They would burn it for Jesus and nothing would happen.
This is a fully Republican led shutdown. A law was passed, they didn't like it so began a massive sulk. They cannot win this one, mainly because there's nothing the Democrats can give up.

Reminds me of that episode of Venture Bros. when dean is interning as Professor Impossibles secretary to find him a new arch enemy, and Dean is standing in a room full of whack-jobs in costumes and he says
"Okay, If your name starts with A-K, I need you to stand over here! L-Z I need you over here!"
And this monster stands up and says "WHAT IF YOU NAME START WITH NO EARTHLY LETTER?"

Not all Muslims are bad. There is just a good chunk of radical idiots.
You can say the same about every other religion.

First you act like a grammar-nazi smartass, and then when you realize you've failed doing so and then you come out saying "oh, but it feels wrong to me". 10/10 for effort.

If the op put it in the title obviously its a used term, I just don't see the point in changing a word to fit your language. Is it wrong to have a fucking opinion on a goddamn word?
Would just to say that as a Republican I do not associate Teaparty'ers with the Republicans.
That will be all.
It's not like it's entirely Obama's fault for the government shutdown, the fucking Republicans have been refusing to move on literally anything and the Democrats aren't much better, blame the other branches of government as well. People are just doing this purely because it's Obama. If it was Bush, no one would give this much of a damn.

But the original word isn't even Quran, Qur'an or Koran, it's القرآن
Should we all write it that way?

Too bad the Tea Party are the puppet masters and the regular Republicans are the puppets.

So then we just don't use the word because it doesn't exist in English?
[editline]14th October 2013[/editline]
Or do we spell it in Arabic only?

Your initial statement wasn't you expressing your opinion, it was you being sarcastic and frowning upon Teddybeer for the way he typed a word.
Would just to say that as a Republican I do not associate Teaparty'ers with the Republicans.

Aren´t they just a smaller part of the Republicans?
I used "Koran" because it was the first spelling that came to mind, I didn't think it would be this much of an issue.
Complaining about the spelling of a word that has multiple ways to put it together has to be the most petty of things.

u wot
If we don't modify words to fit English, how can we possibly use them?
Arabic is a bitch to transliterate into English, there is rarely a single accepted English spelling for any given word. It's like arguing at what height the sea is at down to the centimetre during turbulent weather.
It still feels like slang to me. I don't get why we have to phonetically dumb the word down.
Welcome to transliteration, they are all correct (and at the same time, all wrong) and you are being dumb by calling people out on them. Its no different to how Osama Bin Laden was referred to as Usama by some.

Not as retarded as our moron in chief.
