So walking down the street I found a mint condition blackberry bold 9650 with no contact info in it, I was wondering
- can I keep it without getting in trouble
- where to get a new SIM card and how to get a functioning one that will work with it (I already have a bell SIM card)
- The phone is a Virgin mobile phone
SHIT SHIT SHIT
IT'S A BOMB
OH SHIT OH GOD OH SHIT
na, probably not, use or sell, i don't think it's traceable, does it look dropped or left?
In where I live (Los Angeles area) they sometimes have bait phones, and they fine you for stealing property if you don't turn it in in some certain amount of time, but I don't think they would do that in Canada.

you can buy a sim card from a shop.
HOWEVER, the network should have blocked the IMEI number on the phone if it's been reported stolen/lost.
as a bonus, you won't be able to use the blackberry features without paying the network extra and having them provision you BIS, so it'll be pretty pointless.
just drop it in at the nearest virgin mobile store.

That's fucking retarded. If someone's dumb enough to drop their phone and not go back for it then why should the lucky guy who finds it be fined?
Ofc OP. The government left it there to track idiots. Congratulations!
The police are heading to your doorstep as we speak.
In all seriousness, no. You most likely cannot be tracked, just take it, have no worries.
BlackBerries are not traceable.
Just make sure to remove the SIM card and use the option to clear all data of the memory card and BlackBerry.
So just for clarification to some people: this phone i found on the curb of the road the Sim was snapped so there was no way for me to return this to anyone.
ive dont a security wipe whcih took off now and put in my Bell SIM card
im missing all BB features which makes perfect sense, now would anyone mind explained on how/if I can go to a bell store and sign up for all this stuff so I can unlock BBM and then BBapp store?
Even though I got rated dumb, im still gonna say thanks for any/all advice and tips thrown my way
you'll have to get a blackberry contract.
this is a minimum of $40/month according to this page http://www.bell.ca/shopping/PrsShpWls_SmartphoneCombo.page
i don't even know if they'll let you. the PIN will already be registered to another person - probably won't work.
