Russia not totally 100% sure on invading Eastern Ukraine yet

[QUOTE]Moscow is unaware of receiving a request from the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic to join Russia, a foreign ministry spokesman said Thursday.
Russia has repeatedly sidestepped the issue of how it would respond to such request, in a similarly manner to how it reacted to questions over its annexation of Crimea.
A referendum to secede from Ukraine was held Sunday in the Ukrainian region of Donetsk, a stronghold of pro-Russian separatists, when residents voted for independence from Kiev. The leaders of the self-proclaimed republic on Monday declared independence.
"I have not heard about an official receipt [by Russia] of such a request, even though it has been spoken about a lot in the media," foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday declined to answer what he called a "hypothetical question" on the matter in an interview with Bloomberg Television.
"Now the main goal is not in any kind of recognition and receiving requests, the main issue is to self-organise Ukrainians and make Kiev and the regions sit down at the negotiating table and find the form in which Ukraine should continue building a united, territorially wholesome state," Mr Lukashevich said Thursday.
Ukrainian government forces are battling for control in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, where armed pro-Russia separatists have seized government buildings. Over the weekend, residents in both regions voted for independence from Kiev, although the balloting was widely dismissed as illegitimate.
