It could also be the fact that they're being showed as part of a funny show instead of as a demonstration or anything.

Animal rights activist here. The only problem I have with it is the use of the mice's fright as entertainment. Even then, the snake was gonna be fed the mice anyways in roughly the same manor; they just filmed it as a parody of animal fighters. It's a bit of a grey area in my opinion and I didn't personally get a kick out of it, but I'm not exactly up-in-arms about it.

I am totally okay with snakes eating mice and stuff, but something about these videos just don't feel right-- with their fright and shit being entertainment value. You are totally right... but I'm also a pussy when it comes to this stuff. :v:

I think if you take pleasure in watching living things die, that probably says a lot about you as a person and probably isn't psychologically healthy, but there's nothing more cruel about feeding the snakes in this way as opposed to just sticking them in the box with the mice. As far as the mice are concerned there is no difference at all and they don't suffer any more.
