The writers of the legendary lawman Judge Dredd have caused a stir among fans by suggesting he might be gay.
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/comic-book-hero-judge-dredd-might-be-gay-8466959.html
I think it's hilarious because it's such a troll move... [t]http://i.imgur.com/piD1oV1.jpg[/t]
It wouldn't surprise me.

This is going to be so extremely forced, that even the LGBT community will cry blood and even reject the thought of it. It'll be Dredd stomping some criminals face in while writing a poem for his hubby.
that would be adorable

it doesn't really matter what his sexuality is as its never ever been a vocal point in his character design or story, he's a judge + police officer who kills people for dropping litter.
the amount of bigotry in the comments of that news page is obscene :suicide: with that said i approve, if only to piss people off :v:

Instantly thought of this:
Now I admit that my grasp on the Judge Dredd mythos is shaky and general at best, but I always assumed him to be married to his job if anything. I mean literally married to it. Like, if he had to fill out paperwork regarding sexuality he'd bubble in Other and write "Law" in the explanation line.
How can he be gay when he is the law?
Here is the actual context
A brutal act takes place, Taylor's father disappears and suddenly this kid is all alone in a world that seems to be firmly telling him to keep who he is hidden so no one gets hurt. Then he finds himself in a Dredd-themed underground gay club, where everyone dresses either as Dredd or as a perp, Dredd being the ultimate symbol of macho, leather-clad repression in this city. It's kind of a Village People deal turned up to 100 in a Mega-City One style. And then the real Dredd arrives. http://www.comicsalliance.com/2013/01/24/judge-dredd-the-closet/ TL;DR gay folks have a fetish for Judge Dredd because leather and chains. That's not the real Dredd in the picture. The only thing Judge Joseph Dredd is gay for is the law.
How can he be gay when he is the law?
Well for the longest time in history, the law has favoured men over women...

Well honestly he could be.
The idea of dredd being in any kind of successful romantic relationship is odd to me. like, it wouldnt really work, he would end up arresting his partner for some minor offence at some point.

umm hes asexual and is like 'Law' incarnate, giving him any sexuality would ruin his character
Considering in the article they say basically, "Dredd's love is primarily for the law, but what if he had all this repressed homosexuality under that and that repression broke down for just a bit?", I guess I'm ok with this.

Making him gay is backwards-metaphor for saying the legal system is gay.
the only thing the judge "dreads" is vagina hehehehe
I'm all for it, cool, and all for gay marriage but what the hell is up with this "lets make characters gay where their sexuality is otherwise completely unimportant and not at all going to be used period" fad. Hey, a new character, lets make him gay, that's fun, ok. But some character that it doesn't fit with? What is the point other than getting attention!
If you guys read the actual article the author talks about how Dredd's sexuality is hidden under his loyalty to the law and nothing else. This looks at what might happen if that happened to slip, even for a second. [editline]26th January 2013[/editline]
Writer Rob Williams said Dredd's sexuality - whatever it is - was buried beneath his love for the law. He said: "Although, can you imagine what would happen if that repression ever fell away, just for an instant? Sure, Dredd could be gay.
[editline]26th January 2013[/editline] Also the comments on the page itself made me feel physically ill. I thought the independent was better than that.

But then I've never really been into the Judge Dredd character so it doesn't bother me.
look at this homo. dredd 4 asexuality 2013
I read 2000AD on a weekly basis, and I think that it makes no difference to the character at all. He's far more interested in upholding the law to have relationships, and I'm sure the writers would never change that, as it would ruin the character.
