Not if you severed the "juggular"(I don't know if foxes have one but I am damn sure they have an equivalent). Cause it to bleed to death in a matter of seconds, mostly painlessly.
Even cutting the jugular isn't instant, and a couple seconds is a long time when your throat is sliced open.
