YouTube may have overhauled its much-maligned comments this week, but the service's co-founder is just not feeling it. Jawed Karim, one of YouTube's original creators, took to the comments for the first time in eight years and asked, "Why the fuck do I need a Google+ account to comment on a video?"
First and only comment he's ever made. That's how dumb this shit is.
I'm still operating under the assumption his account was likely compromised.
Not much else to say is there? It is beyond retarded.

Believe it or not, but all of Google and it's service founders may actually not be comprised of one big hivemind.
He sold it to Google right? Therefore absolving himself of any affiliation to it. So he probably had no idea that this was going to happen.
it's a google service, of course you need a google account to use it
Believe it or not, but all of Google and it's service founders may actually not be comprised of one big hivemind.
The fuck are you talking about? Its an account that has done virtually nothing ever and then suddenly it goes active again just for this?

yes

Google Account != Google+ account.
yes
Wow. That is literally the most ridiculous thing I have heard today. An account that by all regards has been inactive for years. Has never said or done anything after that initial video. And now it decides to do something about this particular change. Not any of the others, plenty of which have been awful as well. Just this one.
That is mind bobblingly dumb.

make a conspiracy out of it

That's like saying you need a Google+ account to make a simple web search
That's like saying you need a Google+ account to make a simple web search
I wouldn't be surprised if they implemented that too.
I wouldn't be surprised if they implemented that too.
That'd be a fantastic way to completely crash Google into the ground, burn it, and then bury it.
I miss iGoogle :(

God forbid he dislikes a change and decides to speak his mind about it.

That isn't what he's saying...

I never really cared much about the other YouTube updates that were apparently terrible, but this is honestly the worst change I've seen.

It's not like it affected him since he never made comments in the first place.
That isn't what he's saying...
Thats exactly what he's saying.
He's saying that because the accounts only "activity" was uploading the first video, that means any after this amount of time obviously isnt him.
Thats stupid.

so is your shitposting.
I'm thinking maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way.. Are we supposed to make our G+ accounts for ourselves or for our channels? What about channels like ComedyCentral?
It wouldn't surprise me if your channel page would turn into a G+ page in the future

He may not like the changes or he may love them. The account has done literally nothing for eight years. Nothing whatsoever. It's stupid to think he would reappear just for this. It's just people jumping at a chance to get in more jabs at Google for the changes.
Are you new to the internet or something? People do this shit all the time, getting in to celebrity media accounts on Twitter or Facebook. Should we believe its really Burger King the next time their twitter page breaks habit and starts posting about how great McDonalds is? Next time Katy Perry's twitter starts talking about how awful black people are? Use your fucking brain.

Have you all forgotten how to think in all this mess with the shit changes?

This was super confusing at first, I think it's as long as you don't use your real name when it asks you fucking CONSTANTLY you will (I think) eventually get the chance to change it to the name of a social page. I think that's only if you choose "no" and the reason to be "The name is for a channel, company or character" etc. And it will ask you to make a G+ account for it.
If you choose to use your real name it'll link it to your social G+ account. I don't think it asks you at all if you don't have a G+.
[editline]10th November 2013[/editline]
I'm not sure though, the process is 1000% confusing.
[editline]10th November 2013[/editline]
Regardless, I'm not super mad about the comments because I don't read them or comment on videos at all because the comments section is literally a festering shitpit of ignorance, stupidity and terrible troll attempts, so if it's a broken shitpit of ignorance, stupidity and terrible troll attempts I'm all the same. If it annoys you that much you can join the Feather Beta.

No, he's saying that over the last 7 years or whatever he has done absolutely nothing, not commented or liked anything, it is likely he never even logged onto that account. But now, to address a random controversy in the sea of controversies that youtube has stirred up, he comments, and you don't think there is a chance that someone decided they were fed up with youtube's bullshit and went on to go hack one of the founder's youtubes to get people to think "wow omg even the founder dislikes the changes, hehe we win!!"

I never said i dont think theres a chance.
But automatically assuming it has to be hacker is just stupid.
I never said i dont think theres a chance.

Well he's not automatically assuming it, he's using logic and reason to explain why he thinks what he thinks, and I think it's pretty sound. He's arguing that it is very possible that he was hacked, and he himself knows that, he knows that he doesn't have the factual answer, he just thinks it is more likely h was hacked based on the logic and reason he shared. Regardless, it's not so smart to make any 100% conclusions because we simply don't know anything, but Zed isn't the one making a conclusion, he's suggesting an alternative that he personally believes to be the case.
