Local police chief Haider Ashraf told the Associated Press that many families were leaving the park at the time of the explosion, which he said hit near the children's rides.
Source This is still breaking right now so facts are sparse.
Apparently it was a suicide bombing: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/suicide-bomber-kills-at-least-52-mostly-women-kids-in-pakistan-park/ar-BBqZHXf?ocid=spartanntp

What sort of sick, twisted mentality do you have to have to believe children innocently playing in a park are a legitimate target
What sort of sick, twisted mentality do you have to have to believe children innocently playing in a park are a legitimate target
Terrorists believe in the use of violence as a legitimate means to twist legal governments into meeting their demands. To terror groups, they legitimately feel that they are doing the right thing by 'fighting' against the infidels. They choose their targets as much for the symbolism as the outrage it generates, and are attempting to manipulate this by means of attacks. Blow up a park or a public transport facility? that makes it so that people feel fear that any other location could be struck at at any time, and that's really not too far from the truth, given that it's very difficult to prevent small scale guerilla attacks without some prior information. By selecting targets, they demonstrate their willingness to go against what said target(s) represent, and encourage the creation of a culture of fear and anxiety to instill doubt in the common population. Terrorists consider everybody who is against their ideals as an enemy, and everybody among their own kind who refuse to support them or their causes as traitors. These get lumped together under the umbrella of kuffar (infidel) against whom their version of jihad says is legitimate to target them. There's little that can be done when they legitimately believe they're doing the right thing for their cause. Terror groups are very attractive as social collectives, which gives disenchanted individuals a sense of belonging, that can act as a powerful motivating factor to join said groups.
Just got a text from FB asking if I was safe after the explosion like ??? I'm not in Pakistan.
Just got a text from FB asking if I was safe after the explosion like ??? I'm not in Pakistan.
Yeah I got that too.
I didn't. Facebook doesn't care about me at all.
What sort of sick, twisted mentality do you have to have to believe children innocently playing in a park are a legitimate target
Its not sick or twisted behavior to them. If you really believe that the creator of the universe dictated that this is what you should do, it would be sick and twisted not to do this. [editline]29th March 2016[/editline] Also the the OP doesn't mention it but they targeted Christians who were picnicking at the park for Easter celebrations.
