Hello, maybe some of you have noticed me already dole out the harsh on a few posts and threads around here. Perfumly and Hezzy appointed me moderator for the arts section to help out with the less tended to areas, especially now that perf is busy with a few things. I'm going to say it now, and say it clear, we need to set a few ground rules, since I'm not a regular of the MS Paint section and don't really know the usual goings-on here. First off, I want to know from you guys what should be taken care of, as far as unattended bans and the like. I've already started plucking off the spam and troll threads and idiots that make them, but I'm wondering if, like we decided for the photoshop section, simply adding a penis/dildo to something is bannable. The problem with just deciding that penis=ban is that I know there are quite a few artists around here (such as jewdozer) who are renowned for their... sexual imagery of one fashion or another. Again, as we decided in photoshop contests, I'd like to suggest that it should be a bannable offense if it's either 2-second crap for the sake of "lol penis", or when it's uncalled for, like in a thread that isn't marked NSFW. Also, I've noticed the pixel wars section is... well, a warzone of flaming and retardery, so I'm suggesting actually reporting (since I watch that stuff now), or if nothing's being done, send me a PM when idiots need a spankin'. I'll actually read a bit of the thread, and I warn you- if you report someone and are actually the troll at fault, you will get a 3 or a 7 day ban, depending on how much of an idiot you're being. I don't know how much of this goes on and is accepted, so I want to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter. Rate me heart if you're happy someone's moderatin' 'round here. :buddy:
All the artists who post icky-dick-stuff, like gregah and jewdozer make their own threads, with the NSFW disclaimer. But yeah, the "lolIputApenisOnthispic" -thing is getting more than a little old. Oh, one more thing... Perfumly used to auto-lock any threads that had anything to do with a meme of some sort, like for example "draw an fsjal" -thread. Basically the only user who had a problem with a thread like that was Perfumly himself. IMO that's not the way a mod should operate. <--- (BTW back in '07 people were constantly being banned for simply discussing moderators' methods.) So if I was a mod, I'd listen to what the users want, instead of enforcing my own rules by the book. Give warnings, see what people say about someone's posts before you ban them and lock their threads. I've been banned only once, and it was because I was ninja'd by Perfumly on a thread that he was going to lock, and he banned anyone who had replied to it before locking the thread.
Yep, that's why I'm listening. If you noticed, I asked what everyone else wanted when the meme thread involving the stoner dude faces arised, found here- http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=931878 I know when something has potential or not, so don't worry about random locks specifically due to the origins of the content.
Nice to meet you.
hello sir, thank you for not banning me
You seem like an awesome moderator Daijitsu, welcome :)
Finally no more penis drawings.
I think it's awesome that the PW section is finally becoming moderated, as you mentioned it's just a warzone with immaturity, retardness and general flaming. I read it from time to time but I really cant bear to do it for longer periods, someone starts to do smileys and then you have atleast half the thread just full of one-smiley reply. So that is something I think should be added to the bannable list, if you just reply with one smiley and a short line such as "awmahgaadd " then you should be banned for a minumum time, and then get banned progressivly longer. Otherwise, you seem to have a good head on your shoulder so I expect that you'll always do a good job on the moderating, just the fact that you won't do it all by the book tells a ton about you and I like it :) Plutonia also adds some good points too. Said it before but I'll say it again : Welcome daijitsu to the MS-Paint section, I know you're going to do a great job here :3:
I've told you before that im estatic that we finally have a mod that will actually help out, but plutonia makes a good point. Do what you did in the stoner face thread, because as you can see it turned out pretty good. I for one, am hoping for perhaps a return of the fsjal thread?
Kisses.....
...[img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/img]? anyways, I'm actually curious about the FSJAL locks. The main thread in photoshop contests ran for near 6 months before being locked in february... then another one popped up in march and lasted a day before gurant closed it up. I say avoid memes like before, and salvage the ones that slip through the cracks.
'Bout time. Just kidding. But it's good to have a moderator that watches over the WHOLE forum now. And I like your stile.

And I like your stile.
I'm still working my way into the music section, though. Seems they're pretty solid over there, minus the usual "Can't spell crap without rap lololol" flaming here and there. I gotta start pickin' people off for that.
Dude draw more stuff in your deviant art, I love your style. I put you on watch the moment I saw your ID
good luck with the pixel wars daijitsu, you might need it also the avatar looks like a james bond esque secret agent or something badass like that.
I like ou better than perfumly. that guys a penis
I could get to having a nice mod who draws stuff. Also want to join the MS paint battle thingy?
I could get to having a nice mod who draws stuff. Also want to join the MS paint battle thingy?
I've been looking at a lot of the battles and such around here, looks interesting. Maybe once I have more freetime to doodle I'll start jumping in.
Well thank you for stepping up and helping out. The lack of true moderation in the paint section is rather apparent, so it's good to see extra help. Pixel Wars especially needs help XD.
Maybe now I wont get banned for drawing a huge picture and one tiny meme face in the middle. Seriously, It's great you're here.
*sigh* ...there was a time. I remember the good ol' Facepunch dictatorship days. Remember "smartness"? It was a system that calculated your smartness by starting from 5000 (neutral) and for each completely correctly written sentence with no typos you got 1 point. For a typo you lost like 5 points. Punctuations and capital starting letters were very important for everyone back then. (Except maybe the people in OIFY) xD I remember an (un)funny banning incident a long time ago, where a troll(Person A) posted some slightly inflammatory message, to which someone(Person B) responded and kindly told the Person A something like: "I'd advise you not to post stuff like that, 'Insert moderator name here' will probably ban you for that." Result: Person B got banned for "Predicting moderator behavior". Good times, good times. :)
I remember smartness :D. It's the reason I try and type in correct english everywhere.
Moderation prediction and backseat modding is still taken seriously by some of the others I've noticed. Also, sorry for my absense today, been setting up my new office and getting down to business. Thanks to my architect friend's asshole ex-partner, I'm now getting a larger chunk of cash and lots of professional recognition if our bid is taken by this pharmaciutical company. $50K split between 4 people and I've done 75% of the gruntwork (it's 3D architectural visualization, also I'm designing most of the interior stuff from scratch since that was the jerk partner's 'job'). FFFFFFFFFFFUCK yeah. Back to work. I have no Internet here and FP is hellishly slow on my iPhone :frown: [editline]03:04PM[/editline] Moderation prediction and backseat modding is still taken seriously by some of the others I've noticed. It will be an honor being banned by you. [editline]06:57PM[/editline] Though- I don't intend on being banned.

Anyway, good luck with the project. The payoff is quite large, how much work are you doing in comparison to it?
15 hours of work solid today, minus lunch, and with only an hour of sleep between now and last saturday, our proposal is due friday and I've got stuff already rendering. Doing awesome. Given the way things are getting divided (four of us, plus business fund), I'm kind of expecting 15k for the project IF it's taken. Our presentations tend to get the "We've never seen such amazing work!" reaction out of clients, so I'm 90% sure it's going through. I'm still fighting the network at the new office, it lets everything but my big workhorse of a computer connect to the internet. Funny thing is, it's still connected to the network, as I can get into my network drives on other computers in the cluster. Anyone out here a tech expert? :raise:
Sorry, but no. :saddowns:

If it's small office or so, you might have a small connection (usual with ISPs unless you say that you are a company) and only have 5 IPs = 5 computers to the net. 6th, 7th and such computers will not get internet, but they will be on LAN. This could be your problem, try asking around.
