• Keyboard keys making awful noise

Usually I play keyboard with earbuds in, so I usually don't hear the keys clicking at all. But when I do play on the speakers, this tends to get really annoying. Even the slightest sideways movement makes a loud plastic-on-plastic click. Since you don't move your fingers perfectly vertical when playing keyboard all the time, you'll hear the sound with about every key that is pressed. Pressing keys can be a bit loud too, I think the soft tissue under the keys is a bit worn. Is there any way I can fix this? It's not worth buying a new keyboard for. I looked on Google, but I can only find actual piano maintenance. I'm afraid of just opening it up, I'm afraid I might break something. I've got an ancient Yamaha PSR-640. Any ideas?
