A hercules midi controller.
Just finished another mix...will perform it live sometime next week. Follow me on twitter/facebook so you don't miss out! :)
Anybody else get fooled by the phone/speaker interference sound? Clever, but it does seem to ruin the mix.
If I had any tips for the first mix I Would say remove the stutter at the start of the Ke$ha song, and remove the phone/speaker interference sound.
Other than that sounds great. I'll get back to you once I've listened to the second mix.

It's part of the song and its great.
Edit:
As in it's a part of the original song, he didn't add it in.

Which are you reffering to the Ke$ha stutter, or the Phone/speaker interference?

the phone interferance is part of the song, I didn't add it like Hobo4President said.
The stutter was actually a mistake, I had accidentally touched the jog wheel thus making the track pause for a brief moment, and since these were performed live I couldn't redo it.

Ahhh ok, no problem, the stutter is kind of annoying though it has the same feel as when your OS is overloaded and your music begins skipping.

I barely even notice it...but I suppose I could rerecord these mixes.
Terrible and not in a good way.
You seem to know how to make/use popular dubstep instruments but the composure and arrangement is just garbage. It honestly barely sounds like dubstep.

Dubstep is evolving...for better or for worse is your own opinion but you shouldn't base my mix on it. New dubstep sounds nothing like old dubstep, for instance..

Wrong. Get your genres straight.
Wrong. Get your genres straight.
Hm. How so?
Brostep =/= dubstep
Wrong. Get your genres straight.
to be honest, who gives a shit about what genre is what. it's all bass orientated music, and there are so many similarities between the boundaries now the only difference is tempo, and if you're going by the classic 'dubstep is 140 bpm' then that man is right, but arguing over it is pointless.
Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in south London, England. Its overall sound has been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals

Brostep is a relatively new sub-genre of music (born out of Dubstep micro-genre) which has no emphasis on soul.
The goal appears to be to produce music as fast as you possibly can, without placing any emphasis on quality.
Unlike Dubstep where sub bass is key, Brostep places more emphasis on ratty high frequency samples and oscillators that arent even low frequency. Toss in a few hip hop vocal samples and you are well on your way to being the worlds next big Brostep producer.
Indeed flux pavilion is brostep, but most people just consider it dubstep.
However my mixes are not brostep.
I redid the July 7th mix.

I don't see any mixing. You're just playing songs back to back lol. If you want to start DJing you need to be working on beatmatching and actually mixing from the get go, otherwise you're just a glorified ipod.
[editline]6th August 2011[/editline]
Also find dubstep blogs that post music you like and keep up on new releases, finding gems no one has heard played out a million times is another big part of DJing. I hate when I go to shows and it seems liek half the DJs just picked half of the beatport top 100 for whatever genre they are spinning and called it good.

The July 7th and 8th mix are actually both are from march...I never released them until July though. (Which is why they aren't great)
I do know the basics of beat matching however the problem with these turntables (well the right one only) is that they skip quite a lot. I don't think I miss-setup anything because the left one hasn't missed a beat. Maybe it's not worn in yet? Who knows but its very hard to beat match when the record keeps bouncing back.
As for the blogs and what not I am following several and all of my new mixes are pretty much nothing but "underground" tracks.
Thanks for your feedback!
Did you make sure the tone arms are balanced correctly? If one of your tables is skipping a lot and the other isn't something is definitely either set up wrong or something is physically wrong with the table.
Beat matching is a practice thing much more than a knowledge thing and it's really the heart of proper mixing so you should definitely get your decks set up right and start working on that.

Both of them are balanced correctly and both have a needle pressure of 4 grams. I think it may be the table and not me.
redid the july 8th mix too.
