What would The Simpsons look like if they were French?
Would Homer be munching on snails? Would Lisa play an accordion rather than a sax? Would Bart get up to mischief with his own 'do it yourself pate' kit? And would Marge spend her days shouting "Où est Maggie?"

The answer to all those questions appears to be yes, as that is how the famous cartoon family have been re-imagined by iconic French comic writer, animator and film director Sylvain Chomet.
Chomet (The Triplets of Belleville, The Old Lady and the Pigeons) has directed this week's couch gag, and given it his own beautiful and distinctive artistic touch.
Neat.
Some really cool animation style.
Well this goes against what I've learnt on Facepunch about french only eating baguettes
How they can keep coming up with new material for this show is beyond me.
Reminds me of triplets of belleville except in slightly fewer FPS.

um it says it in the credits and in the title that they didn't come up with it

Ha, they left out L'illusionniste.
That's a good thing.
It took me a moment to figure out why they're all wearing glasses but this is really cool otherwise. I love Chomet's animations.
I really want to see the triplets of Belleville some day, The old lady and the pigeons is fucking amazing
DIY Goose Liver Páte
This is his most well known work by the by.

I'm assuming that he's a Gobelins alumni. The university contains the best people from the animation field.
haha, i really enjoyed this couch gag. Genuinely loved every bit of it.
The Triplets of Belleville was weird as fuck. I remember watching it as a kid and being unable to stop watching it, despite it being really creepy and making me uncomfortable.
The French Simpsons seems more depressing...

But far more interesting.
Wish they would have asked the French VAs to do the voices for the couch gag.
The French dub for the simpsons is so damn good.
the couch gags are seriously all they have left, and they have to outsource them for anyone to give a shit. what was once the least interesting part of a simpsons episode is now the only thing they're remotely trying on
I don't get why the french version is fatter than the US version :d
(btw, I don't think a single french has a hollande portrait in his living room)
That was pretty amazing looking but why was everyone wearing glasses?

I was looking at the normal couch gag and noticed it has no shadows, made everything look kinda weird when I realised that.

To make their eyes as big as the normal versions.

didn't the French voice actors for Homer and Marge marry each other after they met each other while doing the voices?

kinda makes the episode where marge literally rapes homer and the episode where homer frames her for a DUI in seasons 14 and 15 even worse if so

Chomet's usual style is to overemphasise negative characteristics. Should be pretty clear by how he draws bicyclists with thighs thicker than their upper torsos.

...what?

episode 9 of season 14, "strong arms of the ma": marge starts using steroids and forces herself on homer in bed, despite his terrified objections. the joke is that he's sore the next day.
however, he gets his revenge in episode 15 of season 15 "co-dependent's day", where he gets marge into the world of alcohol abuse and then frames her for a DUI he committed, causing her to go to rehab and become the laughing-stock of the town. he spends the rest of the episode trying to hide that he did it.
funny!

Well Maggie did try to murder Mr. Burns one time so the Simpsons family has long been involved with heinous crime
