President Obama was caught on camera chewing gum during the D-Day ceremonies in France as Queen Elizabeth II was welcomed, and Twitter feeds worldwide exploded with criticism.
“Obama and his chewing-gum. Classy” one French user tweeted sarcastically.
“Not very elegant, the Obama attitude in the middle of the ceremony,” another user said, while yet another added, “Is there anyone who will ask Barack Obama to stop chewing on his gum like a cowboy?”
The words “shameful” and “vulgar” were thrown around as social media networks lit up with outrage at Mr. Obama’s display.
I'm pretty sure he wasn't "caught". I thought getting caught pretty much insinuated you were trying to hide something?
Idiots using the internet once again
He's chewing gum. So what?
It doesn't look nice and is a little disrespectful but at the same time he could've done much worse.
THIS JUST IN, FAMOUS PERSON ACTS LIKE NORMAL PERSON

He's just chewing gum, not like he was intentionally trying to be rude and disrespectful at the ceremonies...
People will nitpick fucking everything these days. It is literally not that big of a deal.
It doesn't look nice and is a little disrespectful but at the same time he could've done much worse.
Why is it disrespectful?
... I genuinely don't understand why it is.
It's not like he was chewing with an open mouth and tossing gum at spectators.
people are fucking delusional and will bash on Obama no matter what
and this is why, unless the president is basically hitler, I will always respect the president, whoever she/he is, however bad she/he is, for dealing with peoples crap. The same people they're trying to help.
Being a president isn't hard because there is a lot to deal with
Being a president is hard because there is a lot to deal with, AND ON TOP OF THAT, hearing about people complaining about every single thing you do, including the stance you piss in.
also no wonder he's chewing hard and "Needs a cigarette" he's thinking about what stupid shit twitter has to say about him that doesn't relate to his you know, actual job.
Who gives a shit, he didn't piss on someone's grave.
he also crossed his arms, this demands impeachment
"It's time to attend ceremonies and chew bubblegum.........hey, I'm not out of gum!" - Barack Obama

Same reason you shouldn't chew gum at a funeral or in church, I guess.
Also, this reminds me of when people flipped shit when he ordered a beer at a baseball game towards the beginning of his presidency
I bet next time they will scream and cry if obama spills some sauce on his clothes.
Who... The fuck.. Cares. Even some people in this thread think its "disrespectful". What the fuck is wrong with people. Always trying to find a problem

And why is that?
Don't just redirect me, just tell me what you're thinking and what you base it on :v:
It's not like I have no clue what you mean, but I think it's important to think harder about these things before passing judgement.
So they are not mad he was chewing gum but that he was chewing gum like he needed a cigarette or something? lol
Reminds of the chain email claiming Obama is the only president to have not visited "the D-Day monument" on D-Day

He does "need" a cigarette, the ones he's chewing contain nicotine.
I guess this does show signs of disrespect even if he doesn't mean it.
There are some basic accepted rules of etiquette that some people adhere to, this might offend them.

In the military I guess you aren't supposed to chew gum while in rank, but he wasn't quite in rank or anything.
Gum is good for you anyways, it should be like.

The 31 presidents before FDR most certainly didn't visit the monument.
