A recent survey from the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research conducted in seven Muslim-majority countries (Tunisia, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey), finds that most people prefer that a woman completely cover her hair, but not necessarily her face. Only in Turkey and Lebanon do more than one-in-four think it is appropriate for a woman to not cover her head at all in public. The survey treated the question of women’s dress as a visual preference. Each respondent was given a card depicting six styles of women’s headdress and asked to choose the woman most appropriately outfitted for a public place. Although no labels were included on the card, the styles ranged from a fully-hooded burqa (woman #1) and niqab (#2) to the less conservative hijab (women #4 and #5). There was also the option of a woman wearing no head covering of any type.
Lebanon fashion sense declared superior. What do you mean I'm missing the point?
saudi arabia must be a real flattering country
Disturbing.
Nr. 3 looks like the mother from Life of Brian.
How does woman 1 see wearing a lampshade?
saudi arabia must be a real flattering country
Saudi Arabia just never quite got over the ninja-craze that swept the internet in 2006.
Study shows that Saudi Arabia is still living 600 years in the past
filthy women showing off their *gulp* skin
They should split this poll up so we can see how many women said they should be like his and how many men said this, and also if they are living in a rural region or a city. I went to Beirut and Istanbul and i barely saw any special clothing.

It's basically any head-covering scarf, as far as I understand.
There are people where I live who refer to the niqab as the letterbox.
What on earth is the first one... Looks like some kind of HAZMAT suit.
Hijabs are nice.
Hijabs are nice.
A Burqa. They're pretty scary. But at least they're colourful, compared to the Niqab. Though I've seen some beautiful, gold-trim-woven Niqabs.

I secretly think that hijabs are very pretty and flattering.
I secretly think that hijabs are very pretty and flattering.
I thought I was the only one.
I don't know what #5 is called but there are a couple women around here I always see wearing it and it looks comfy actually They should make mens versions
It's called a headscarf. Fifty or so years ago women wore them all around the world so just rob a pensioner.
Saudi Arabia is surprisingly high on this one
Saudi Arabia is surprisingly high on this one
with that money and economic power society is bound to be developing albeit slowly. i'm not that surprised
I'm more surprised that Egypt is that low, last time I was there, there weren't that many local women wearing hijabs at all, let alone burkas. But I guess that how the men feel about it and what the men actually make them wear varies with country.
Saudi Arabia is surprisingly high on this one
I'm surprised by these figures, that's fucking ridiculous. I'd have expected some of those countries to be up around 70 - 80%.
Saudi Arabia is surprisingly high on this one
Turkey - %52? Did these Pew fools make their polls in the most shitfuckistan part of Turkey or what?
