• Destiny Red Bull promotion ruined by 'scammers'
A Destiny promotion in which players could redeem codes for various in-game benefits has been undermined by Internet scammers. Within days of the Red Bull promotion going live, players figured out the (deplorably simple) code sequence and used it to score themselves loads of free loot.
Source: http://games.on.net/2015/07/destiny-red-bull-promotion-ruined-by-scammers/ I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I feel bad for Red Bull and the code pattern being so simple anyone could guess them in sequence. But on the other hand, it's nice to see this happen to Destiny, the game that's been trying to gouge money from everyone at every turn
As an avid destiny fan, fuck this promotion.
I am completely okay with this
Lol, maybe the promo shouldn't have happened
Redbull will have to up their game.. make the codes 5th order PDE's. Unlock the loot by coming up with a unique solution to set initial conditions.
Don't know where "money sucking" term comes from, since the game only got 2 DLCs and Expansion coming. Red Bull promotion was the dumbest idea from the beginning. Like haven't they figured out that there a lot of people playing outside of US?
What was the code generator?

Then before the huge public outcry, they were going to make you buy all of the shit you already had AGAIN in a new collector's edition just to get a couple new special features that they were going to leave out otherwise
On one hand, I feel bad for Red Bull and the code pattern being so simple anyone could guess them in sequence.
I don't. It's a fucking stupid promotion, and the fact they made them so simple just ensured they painted a large bullseye on their own forehead.

Call me a fanboy, but my point is that this not the worth DLC scheme we've seen (hi CoD:AW, Evolve etc). The value of Destiny is replayabilty of the same levels and given content from released DLCs were actually worth its' prices. The worse scenario would be if they add microtransactions for armor and weapons.
What was the code generator?
The ""generator"" consists of making up an 8-character code with 6 numbers and 2 letters, and only using the numbers 3, 4 and 7 and the letters X, C and K. Seriously.
I think Destiny has a whole bunch of content and replayability tbh.
I think Destiny has a whole bunch of content and replayability tbh.
Oh yeah, it has tons of replayability, if you think replayability means being forced to replay the same missions over and over to get anywhere.
Hardly a scammer when anyone can type in some 3 7 and 8s and get the codes. Not their fault they don't know how to design a simple code generator.
I'd feel bad for the promoters if it weren't for the fact that sort of promo is downright retarded
What was the code generator?
any combination of 3,4,7, X i think.
Oh yeah, it has tons of replayability, if you think replayability means being forced to replay the same missions over and over to get anywhere.
I only play Crucible (pvp), raids, and the nightfall. So I mean its got more variety than COD. :v:
any combination of 3,4,7, X i think.
Example?

The main reason I chose a PS3 last gen was because I wouldn't have to pay a monthly fee to play my games online. Considering that Destiny could have easly just been a peer-to-peer network game its shitty. So its 60$ for the game, then if you want any sort of interaction the 10$-20$ for the network, then since the base game is lacking in content you have the 40$ worth of extras, which again most of which requires the network. This stuff adds up.
I remember when this happened a couple years ago with Stella Artois, it was like a 7-digit code and the first three numbers were always the same. You got a free chalice for it, it was badass.
Oh yeah, it has tons of replayability, if you think replayability means being forced to replay the same missions over and over to get anywhere.
It's the equivalent of Diablo, but since it's a first person shooter, everyone shits on it. My friend who has an Xbox One was amazed at how many games I have in my library and how little I've spent. (If you have PS+, Styx is the greatest stealth game since Chaos Theory or one of the old Thief games)
You can play it without PS+ or Xbox Live, though special activities won't be available (said raids, nightfalls)
No you can't
Also, Bungie should be like, "Fuck it" and give all of the free crap to everyone.
yeah today's bungie day wtf
No you can't
You can play story mode missions, but you can't play any events that require coop or team play (so strikes and crucials ie PVP aren't available).
Redbull will have to up their game.. make the codes 5th order PDE's. these are destiny players, they'd skip the nobel prize to get the loot
Example?
Don't know why I'm being dumbed; just asking a question! I did it though, I managed to snag a code. Bungie is so stupid.
