• North Korea fires ballistic missile into Japanese waters ahead of G20 summit
North Korea launched a ballistic missile from its western region into the sea off its east coast on Tuesday, South Korea's military said, ahead of a summit of leaders from the Group of 20 countries in Germany later this week. The missile flew for about 40 minutes and may have landed in Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), the Japanese government said, adding that it had strongly protested what was a clear violation of UN resolutions.
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-missiles-idUSKBN19P02W?il=0
It pisses me off how much further North Korea is getting and what they're getting away with, but nothing is going to be done about it unless NK fucks up big time.
May aswell get the usual comment out of the way; "Hue hue NK hits the ocean again nice missiles NK who cares xdddd" But in all seriousness this is a story that only gets more and more depressing with each iteration. NK has very successfully displayed it had the range down pact with each of it's tests lobbing a rocket just short of its enemies. I personally theorize their plan is to lull the enemy (Japan) in to a false sense of security with all of these "botched" launches- then throw them the big bomb

He can yell at you that he can break you over his knee and toss you in the garbage, but as long as he doesn't lift a finger at you the teacher won't punish him. It's not only when either you or the bully throws the first punch the teacher steps in to stop it. Checks and balances is sounding like the zero tolerance policies in US schools. This is where I think the US and China aggressing to disarm NK of it's nukes and halt production there is a VERY GOOD idea.
north korea should be commended for taking the fight to the kaiju
and kill potentially millions of civilians? I doubt it
yeah because nato would never kill civilians :v:

In theory, if North Korea launched a live one that actually posed a danger, we would launch an interceptor, at which point things would get a bit unpredictable since who knows how they would deal with having their missiles shot down
the second any nk missile hits land pyongyang gets carpet bombed by a dozen different countries
and hundreds of thousands of SKs get annihilated by Nork artillery
And even if NK was liberated, what then? SK sure as shit won't want them unless they enjoy absolutely wrecking their economy. Not to mention the cultural differences, compare this to east and west germany which if you're german you know hans't this day entirely integrated into one another, and the time of separation was much shorter while their cultures still weren't as different as the koreas are
Uuuuuhhhhhh.... :disgust:
While i think they have perfectly good superweapons, i don't believe that they have ICBM's. I wouldn't put much weight in that.
While i think they have perfectly good superweapons, i don't believe that they have ICBM's. I wouldn't put much weight in that.
Didn't they launch a satellite into space? Isn't ICBM delivery technology extremely similar?
Has it always been this way to where the logistics of warfare and liberation are so heavily considered that a country has gotten away with this sort of treatment for so long? Obviously the refugee and rehabilitation crisis would be immense, but if not now, then when? It's not going to get any better under the Kim regime, unless some sort of coup is staged, but I doubt that too at this point.
Didn't they launch a satellite into space? Isn't ICBM delivery technology extremely similar?
an ICBM payload would be much heavier than a satellite I imagine.
While i think they have perfectly good superweapons, i don't believe that they have ICBM's. I would not dismiss this so easy as we normally would other missile tests.

And not American ones this time.

I am truly at a loss of words over the North Korean situation... I know I might sound dumb but I really wish the world as a whole would step in on this situation we are all sitting idly by and waiting for the bombs to drop but yet our president would rather shit tweet him wrestling a CNN logo than actually trying to achieve some foot hold with North Korea... :goodjob:
Does he realize that Japan isn't allowed an offensive army after WW2? They can operate within Japan for defense and that's it.
Thought there was a clause that allowed attack only if there's an imminent threat?

You can also majorly fuck up in the process, see the end result of the Iraq War. You also have to take into account the fact that the fat teletubby in charge of NK could get spooked by any form of troop buildup and might start launching missiles into SK or other countries. But, if he does start with that, it's enough for literally everybody to come after him and crush his tinpot dictatorship, if he survives he goes on trial for international crimes with a rap sheet long enough that it can only end in him being hanged.
Only have to be scared of NK if anyone starts shit with them. They're not the 'schoolayrd bully' they're the fucked up kid who gets bullied and is pumping the gym day in and out to make sure anyone who tries to fuck with him will hurt for it, even if he still loses. They're developing nukes as a self defence measure not offensive. They know damn well any fought wars would be lost, it's all posturing to keep their own population hopeful and as a warning to anyone else.

There's no incentive for them to bomb anyone, because as soon as they do that, there's no more reason for restraint and it's all out war everyone vs. NK and the regime (and basically nation) is wiped off the face of the earth. They have virtually no one on their side anymore. The threat of nukes is far more valuable than actually using them. [editline]4th July 2017[/editline]
and kill potentially millions of civilians? I doubt it
I'm sure the west would much rather kill civilians itself than allow NK to do the same unchallenged.
and kill potentially millions of civilians? I doubt it
heck yeah, dude the second NK nukes anybody is the second NATO stops caring about NK's civilians, the gingerly surgical approach would be out the window in an instant.
Does he realize that Japan isn't allowed an offensive army after WW2? They can operate within Japan for defense and that's it.
... I actually didn't know this. That's pretty interesting. Is Germany allowed one? :v:

The longer we wait is just going to make it worse. At this point we are just letting North Korea develop better weapons that will cause greater damage down the line. The US and China shouldve prepared and invaded NK a long time ago.
... I actually didn't know this. That's pretty interesting. Is Germany allowed one? :v:
IIRC Japan wasn't allowed a real army because of the attack on Pearl Harbour (Even though there was a declaration of war and it was a fully legal attack).
It's not that Japan isn't 'allowed' an offensive army, it's that it would be unconstitutional. However, Japan is a fully sovereign nation and could amend its constitution without needing any foreign power's permission anytime its government decided and agreed to do so. The article of the constitution relating to this is vaguely worded anyway and its been reinterpreted several times. Japan has a 'real' army in all but name and the public opinion and political willpower to use it as such.
IIRC Japan wasn't allowed a real army because of the attack on Pearl Harbour (Even though there was a declaration of war and it was a fully legal attack).
The declaration of war didn't come until after the attack, it was technically a war crime.
