Robert Lewis Dear, a North Carolina native who was living in a trailer in Colorado, made statements to police Friday at the scene of the Colorado Springs clinic and in interviews that law enforcement sources described as rantings.

In one statement, made after the suspect was taken in for questioning, Dear said "no more baby parts" in reference to Planned Parenthood, two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case told NBC News.
So... To prevent the perfectly legal transportation of aborted fetal tissue, you shot nine people and killed three more. That's a great way to help your cause, really.
Sounds like the guy was clearly a nutter, though. Everything from metal roofs to prevent government spying, to beating his ex-wife. The question remains, is this religiously-motivated terrorism, or just another mass shooting by a deranged criminal? Is there really a difference?
Now can we arrest the Republicans for spreading false Propaganda that causes terrorism?

The guy lived in a cabin by himself and was known as a loner who mumbled to himself a lot. His neighbors said that it was obvious that he had issues.
The guy obviously has some mental issues.
So has this guy been labelled a terrorist yet or is that word reserved for muslims only now.
Now can we arrest the Republicans for spreading false Propaganda that causes terrorism?
By that logic we should arrest the President for the burning of Ferguson because he helped fuel the outrage
Spoiler Alert: That's fucking retarded
Sounds like the shooter would have been dangerous to society regardless of his political views.
Now can we arrest the Republicans for spreading false Propaganda that causes terrorism?
Ah yes, arresting political opponents and outlawing the opposition party, that's exactly what a democracy does.
So has this guy been labelled a terrorist yet or is that word reserved for muslims only now.
What the fuck does this have to do with anything remotely related to this?
What the fuck does this have to do with anything remotely related to this?
It has everything related to this, actually. When a Islamic extremist attacks something for political/religious reasons, he is labelled as a terrorist. When a generic non-denominational person attacks something for political/religious reasons, it's a mental health issue.
Another homegrown terrorist attack. This past year has been a bad one.
seems like your run of the mill sovereign citizen
But not the fun ones that yell "I DO NOT CONSENT"

It is terrorism, by the very definition of the word.
ter·ror·ism
ˈterəˌrizəm/
noun
- the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims.
Yup, it's terrorism.
WAIT!
"Domestic terrorism" means activities with the following three characteristics:
Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping; and
Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.
Okay, NOW it's definitively terrorism.
What did he mean by "No more baby parts" ?
What did he mean by "No more baby parts" ?
A right-wing advocacy group put out a series of videos that had been edited to make Planned Parenthood officials look like baby-slaughtering, fetus-selling monsters.
Naturally, all the stupid right-wing people who can't verify their sources believed it.
Yup, it's terrorism.

fun game to play, go through each article on the story and CTRL-F for terror
fun game to play, go through each article on the story and CTRL-F for terror
It's all in the numbers, you know.
If they call this terror, it sets a precedent that goes against the established "only brown people can be terrorists" rhetoric, and that could negatively impact views from sensationalist news.
Media outlets are extremely calculated, especially when they're pushing an issue. Words aren't used without consideration for the responses they create.

Yeah hes a terrorist but the last thing we need is the news fearmongering about domestic terrorists when people are already worried about much better equipped and organized terrorists abroad.
Yeah hes a terrorist but the last thing we need is the news fearmongering about domestic terrorists when people are already worried about much better equipped and organized terrorists abroad.
except this guy single handedly has done more damage to the US than ISIS has
also it's too bad we can only worry about one threat at a time, it would make life a lot easier if we had like a huge country with multiple agencies in it that dealt with separate issues at the same time so we could confront multiple dangers on multiple fronts
we could even give them all short initials as their names
What the fuck does this have to do with anything remotely related to this?
Lots of lefties have a hard on to call this terrorism for some reason, probably regarding the concern about Syrian refugees or something.
Yeah hes a terrorist but the last thing we need is the news fearmongering about domestic terrorists when people are already worried about much better equipped and organized terrorists abroad.
So it's only okay to ensure people are afraid of a potential terrorist who's not next door? Isn't that what they've been doing with the whole refugee debacle? What SHOULD you be more afraid of, really? That there are people across the ocean planning on killing you, or the fact that the guy next door with an unusual (but harmless) affinity for sports memorabilia could go postal any day now?
Of course we fear the terrorist organizations that are organized and better equipped, but remember: You don't need RPGs or C4 to pull off a terror attack, nor do you need a few thousand like-minded individuals.
The ones who are organized, we're at least aware of them and their intentions. A neighbor, hell, even a friend, perpetrating a terror attack, despite no history of violence? THAT'S unsettling.

Lefties? My conservative friends have a hell of a lot harder time accepting that it was a terror attack than my "lefty" friends do.

You can worry about both, but trying to insinuate that there's some underlying racism involved in the media not labeling this guy as a terrorist like Zillamaster did is just too much.
Thanks for trying to claw every possible nugget of refutation possible from my one sentence post, both of you. All I'm saying is that, yeah this guy is a terrorist, but hes part of something that most people shouldn't worry about, and trying to label every single instance where something like this happens as domestic terrorism, even if it's true, is just fanning more flames for panic. The last thing I want to see in the news every day is headlines about how every shooting that happens is domestic terrorism, because you bet it will happen if the media catches on.
And yeah, I would be more worried about a terrorist organization that has already killed people in western countries than my neighbor. Your post sounds sensationalist as fuck. You shouldn't really be scared of either because you can't help if ISIS decides your hometown is the first target for a surprise attack, or the fundamentalist nut decides to pick your errand day as his shooting spree at the mall.

so it's ok for the media to fearmonger against refugees, but not domestic terrorists? all the media does is fearmonger, but suddenly when it's an actual threat to americans it shouldn't be focused on due to fear of panic?
FAR more americans die from gun violence a year than to foreign terrorist attacks, how is this NOT something to worry about

Probably because when Americans kill each other it's over political beliefs or personal strife, they're targeting a specific person or organization.
When terrorists kill Americans they target infrastructure, or capitol buildings, or the Twin Towers. They target symbols of our success and destroy our infrastructure and set us as a civilization backwards.
Honestly, it's expected that gang-bangers are going to shoot each other, it doesn't surprise anyone or cause national distress when gang-bangers shoot each other. It's entirely different when a plane full of successful american citizens is smashed into a shining beacon of american power.

a crazed man killing children in their school doesn't "set us back as a civilization"?

I'm middle left and this was defintley not terrorism.

It's a tragedy, but it doesn't affect the upper class, so they don't really care that much, and it doesn't destroy vital infrastructure to our financial institutions, and doesn't stall our economy as a whole affecting everyone across the country. It's not comparable to destroying the World Trade Center, no.

no it just leaves a bunch of kids dead and a nation grieving
I don't have a stronger word than tragedy to describe the loss of innocent children's lives, but it isn't a direct challenge to our country as a first world super power.
