The former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton has said Edward Snowden should have the right to launch a legal and public defence of his decision to leak top-secret documents if he returns to the United States.
"If he wishes to return knowing he would be held accountable and also able to present a defence, that is his decision to make," Clinton said in a video interview with the Guardian on Friday.

Clinton: As an American I honestly believe that our acquisition of information saves lives

surely she must have understood the stupidity of what she's saying
who DOESN'T believe that their information gathering is for good
there are no doctor evils in this world
no no no, we don't use it to save lives, we use it to take them away if they're plotting against us
(and by us I mean our government)
Murica, holier-than-thou
I would have expected this kind of simplistic view of the world from someone a lot less intelligent than Hilary. Is she catering to potential voters, I wonder
"Edward Snowden should have right to legal defence in US, says Hillary Clinton"
vs
"Hilary Clinton says America should be able to amass information because it saves lives, unlike other countries"
come on you didn't even spell Hillary right let alone use something she actually said
Watch the video

this woman will be running for President lol
This is something I'd expect to hear from a conservative. All the more reason for me to believe that american politics is fucked

She knows that American voters are, by and large, dumbasses with extremely simplistic worldviews. They respond to "It's necessary because terrorists will come to get you and your family otherwise", not nuanced and rational arguments. If you talk too smart to Americans, we tend to resent you for it.
"We spy on people to help people. They spy on people to hurt people. It's different, trust me"
Ok, Hilary.
Sorry, you're not Google Hilary.
When she becomes president of the USA, it is gonna be hillaryous
she didn't say it
I mean the quote you have,
she's clearly responding to a contrast made between corporate sabotage from state capitalism and NSA privacy invasion
this thread is going to turn into a hillary clinton hatejerk and there's nothing you can do to stop it bwahaha
Hillary Clinton is an idiot.

Clinton: As an American I honestly believe that our acquisition of information saves lives
I too want to believe, but I consider myself a cynic, so never mind.
Lost my vote if she runs for president. I'll vote Third party and waste paper, fucking better than not voting.
Hilarious Clinton
Cant believe good old Bill even married her
Cant believe good old Bill even married her
I wonder if Monica Levinski would make a better president than Hilary Clinton
Does she really fucking think the world consists of Angels and Villains?
I wonder if Monica Levinski would make a better president than Hilary Clinton
To be honest, I think she would suck.
[sp]Sorry guys, couldn't help it[/sp]
Word it any way you want it. America wants to be the big dog in information control regardless of whether it will save lives or not.
Well, the US may spy us.. but if the situation deteriorates, the EU can still dump the free trade agreement. And I don't think the future voters of Clinton will like this.
It went from "Oh we are so shocked" to "We are investigating a closure" to "Its questionable" to "We need it, muh terrorism".
Politicians are fuckin disgusting.
Not only politicians.
On my school they are paranoid as hell too.
(Note I'm currently there for exams, posting from one of the school computers)
My teacher seriously used to check my cookies out.
Ever since I found out, I always wipe my cookies just to tease her.
On the other hand, I have my rights on privacy, and I'm enforcing that.
Told her that and she didn't like it.
can't wait for the 2016 presidential debates, the republicans are going to troll the democrats on this issue since they're bizarly super-pro NSA
Can I ask a question of liberals? Why do so many of you want to vote for Clinton? What is her platform? What has she promised to do?
At least with Obama he ran on bringing affordable healthcare to America at a time when such attention had been brought to it, and he promised to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan.
But what about Clinton? What has she offered that makes her such an obvious choice with democrats, what is her "big promise"?
Until you can answer me that I will maintain that the best choice for American progressives right now is none other than Rand Paul.
Hilary won't, can't, run on anything other than "first woman president! so progressive!" hype.
shes been involved in far too many scandals in her very long political career, and it will only be brought back to the forefront of the public consciousness by the opposite when she runs.
Do liberals even like her anymore, sounds like both side would hate her.
