• North Korea coach made to work as builder, no pay
England's disgraced World Cup footballers and coach Fabio Capello must be thankful they are not from Communist North Korea. Here we just boo our players when they fail (or give them more money) but in Pyongyang they do things differently. Their squad, which lost all three of its games in South Africa, has been subjected to a humiliating public dressing-down. The hapless players spent six hours being lectured, in public, on their failure, during which they were accused of 'betraying' a son of dictator Kim Jong-il. More than 400 government officials, athletes and students looked on as each player was told how their mistakes contributed to the team failing in its ideological struggle to win. Continues Below ↓ Acting under coercion, every player blamed the defeat on coach Kim Jong-hun, who is thought to have been expelled from the ruling Workers Party of Korea and forced to work, unpaid, as a builder. A source told South Korean media: Coach Kim Jong-hun and the team were made to stand on a stage and other athletes and students took turns criticising them. At the end, the team members were made to criticise their coach. The source went on to say that the theme of the grand debate was criticising the betrayal of the trust of Kim Jong-un, Kim Jong-il's son and heir apparent. North Korea's success in qualifying for the finals had prompted the Workers? Party to organise countrywide celebratory lectures in recognition of Young Genera l Kim Jong-un's accomplishment. This year's World Cup finals were the first North Korea has competed in since 1966. The team lost 2-1 to Brazil, 3-0 to Ivory Coast and 7-0 to Portugal and went out at the group stage. The Portugal defeat was especially humiliating as it was shown live on state television the first time a foreign football match has ever been shown live there. Ever since the team crashed out, experts on the hermit state have speculated that the players would be punished. The bizarre public meeting took place on July 2. However, the highly secretive nature of the paranoid regime means that details have only just emerged. The only players not at the meeting were Japan-born Jong Tae-se and An Yong-hak, who both fled to Japan immediately after the tournament. Players who participated in the World Cup were subjected to a session of harsh ideological criticism, a Chinese businessman told South Korean media. Experts on North Korea say the players actually got off rather lightly. ?In the past, North Korean athletes who performed badly were sent to prison camps, one intelligence source said. - Daily Mail
http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?click_id=19&art_id=iol1280587135660N262&set_id= Oh wow. Here's another article about this: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/295359
what a surprise
Yet again, North Korea disgusts my sense of humanity. Why we haven't cut the crap and directly-attacked the regieme for their crimes against humanity is totally beyond my comprehension. It honestly doesn't make ANY sense at all that we haven't gotten riled up enough yet, they've sure riled me up enough a thousand times over, and a thousand times again.
It must suck to beat North Korea in a soccer match.

I can't see how such war - which will be very bloody for sure - can be initiated by any nation against NK with the purpose of freeing its' people.

If the Vatican had an army of altruists, like some kinda modern-day Knights Templar, then they'd probably be altruistic to declare war on North Korea. But let's face it, we ain't never gonna see the Knights Templar ever again, at least not as it was, so our best bet at instigating total war with Kim's regieme is if someone discovers nuclear weapons or deposits of "unobtainium"/oil in the country. And with the level of secrecy they've got in North Korea, fat chance of THAT happening either. I mean, there's a higher chance of al-Qaeda teleporting into the heart of London than anyone sneaking a spy into North Korea. It's almost got a bloody Iron Curtain around it for Pete's sake...
WHAT THE FUCK? They should be happy they got into the world cup. Its their second damn time! They should be rewarded!
The regieme is greedy and obsessed with infinite superiority, that's all. Feels hauntingly familiar somehow...

But how many years will it take? How many for him to die, and how many for the regieme to crumble with him?
North Korea should hire Fabio Capello and then make him their next Great Leader. :haw:
I'm appalled that a country like North Korea exists in this day and age.
As long as North Korea fucks it self over after I visit it, then it's all good. Also, shit, the keeper must have gotten chewed the fuck out. They got into the World Cup, the lowest FIFA ranked team to ever get in. Be happy.
Fucking told that asshole who thought this was bull.
not surprised
All work and no pay? Another north korean day!
North Korear is best Korear.
i was waiting for an article like this to pop up
What a bunch of bad sports.
Yea this is according to some US radio in asia 'radio free asia', it's bullshit. They had the same thing during the cold war with 'radio free europe' where they spout a whole variety of slanted bullshit and people would believe it because it's *COMMIEZ*
Thats what happens when you make the team out of secret service agents.
USA is about to launch an attack on N.korea and this is some bullshit propaganda making them look inhuman
Conscript claims it's all capitalist propaganda Never heard that one before
Johnnymo thinks if communists did it, it must be true. Never heard that one before. Perhaps you've forgotten how much of a profitable venue anti-communism is? And seriously, you think an interventionist country that props up anti-communist dictators, fascists and death squads wouldn't have a radio it FUNDS be an exception? The US doesn't hold back against it enemies, we entered two wars in the past decade already, apparently not taking a break from what we have been doing for the past 50 years. You're not that much of an idiot, are you?
It must suck to beat North Korea is a soccer match.
Why would it suck? Things like this make it far more vicarious for the viewer and more dangerous for the players. All the better to make them play harder and win smarter.
I think North Korea is a bunch of raggedy assfu- HARRO, THE AMAZING MOST BEST COUNTRY NORTH KOREAR HAS APPREHENDED THIS AMERICAN DEVIL FOR SLANDERING THE NAME OF OUR GREAT COUNTRY WHICH IS BETTER THEN ALL THE OTHER COUNTRIES, NORTH KOREAR THE GREATEST COUNTRY EVER. DEATH TOO AMERICA.

I'm sorry Conscript please tell me I'm interpreting your posts wrong but...Are you seriously defending what the DRPK is doing/has done by trying to excuse, justify and shift (most of) the blame onto the US? Bah forget it I'd rather not start a shitstorm, in response to the OP I feel very sorry for those players and coach.

Source looks pretty shitty and I've already heard entirely different "reports" of what happened to the NK soccer team, but it seems like every time any socialist nation does anything wrong you dismiss it as western propaganda. Also name-calling is a surefire way to win an argument. [editline]03:29PM[/editline] Honestly if it were any other nation I'd probably accept your propaganda argument and dismiss the story but NK is like the circus sideshow of socialism.
If there is ever a war on NK, I want to be the first one in.
Conscript claims it's all capitalist propaganda Never heard that one before
Considering we heard they went to coalmines first, then now it's this. Seems a little bullshitty to me.
