• Lower/Keep/Raise The Age of majority?

Should the age of majority be lowered? How low? Some say it should be lowered to as low at 14 years of age, while other say 16 years of age sounds about right. In most countries, the age of majority is 18 years of age. Some say the age of majority should be raised. For example, Japan's age of majority is 20 years of age. I believe once someone is old enough to make decisions for themselves and feel they do not need their parents to support them, they should have that right. What does facepunch think?
..... you mean maturity? the fuck is majority

About 18 sounds about right. But then again it doesn't really.. You've heard of 15-17 year olds doing men's crimes. Some people grow faster and are seen as adults even if they aren't even 20 years old. And vice versa. Bringing the crime on the table because usually the age of majority goes side by side with being responsible for offensive actions that happen quite often.
I think it should be made more consistent. If the age is 18, then one should be able to do everything at 18 including drinking/gambling/etc.

"Yes Mr. Jones, just go murder somebody and we'll mail you your drivers license right away!"

The fact of the matter is, that no matter how intelligent or articulate you are as a minor, you get very little respect simply because you are a minor. For example, with discipline this is the case, where a parent can hit their kid with a belt, and there'll be numerous posters coming in with "I was beat with a belt several times as a kid, and I turned out fine!" comments, despite the fact that if it were between two equals it would be considered assault.

You get your full license 2 years after getting the temporary one so by then you're 18. Also drinking at 21 is stupid

If one has lots of experience behind the wheel, or hunting, or any sort of skill like that by learning with their parents or guardians, one can assume they'll be responsible once they're let out on their own.
How about instead of an age, we have a series of tests. One of them: There is a big, red button with a sign saying "Do not press or you will fail" attached. If you press, you fail.
