The Hurricane is among the 10 worst in Norway for the last 30 years. Something similar hasn't been seen since the New Years hurricane of '92. The weather has caused great damages along the coast, propelling boats ashore and sinking ships. Though a few ships have sunk, amongst them a fishing vessel with 32 men on board, no one has died as of what is known yet. - We assume around 100 000 Norwegians are now without power, communications advisor in Statness, Martha Hagerup says to Aftenposten. Hagerup underlines that these are very uncertain numbers. It could well be more or less. Downed trees and lightning strikes has caused extremely many power-outagaes. Statnett reports this morning that most of the central electrical net is fixed. They've redirected electricity to other lines and asked local energy-companies to increase or decrease production to give power and hinder overloads. - The power is still unstable, and we're still largely having issues with small, local electricity nets. A new storm is on it's way measuring 44 m/s is on it's way towards the west coast of Norway, not as bad as Dagmar, but people should still remain prepared, meteorological experts say. Pshh. I've got my Norwegian quality jacket, nothing can stop me now. I shall take my battle-axe and cleave the storm in two, leaving me in the enigmatic middle that is also very very calm and pretty quiet.
Holy shit worst timing for a disaster.
Holy shit worst timing for a disaster.
Your avatar approves though.
Holy shit worst timing for a disaster.
Any reason in particular? No time is a good time for a disaster.
Any reason in particular? No time is a good time for a disaster.
It hit on Christmas. [editline]26th December 2011[/editline] Also,
Falt ned fire trær her oppe iløpet av natten, heldigvis falt de alle sammen ved siden av huset og ikke oppå. Litt på naboens da.
It's as if fate hates Norway this year. The terrorist attack, and this hurricane.
And yet again Norway catches the worst of the storm, leaving us protected. Thanks. Only a few trees fell around this area.
And there were strong as fuck winds that tore down trees over here in Estonia as well. That's one big Hurricane
Power was out half of yesterday, felt good to wake up and have lights working. [editline]26th December 2011[/editline]
It's as if fate hates Norway this year. The terrorist attack, and this hurricane.
Don't forget the butter crisis!
And I thought it hit Sweden Badly :v: The power here kept flipping on and off during the night / morning was pretty creepy with no lamp posts on
I hope everyone's okay over there...
Dagmar knocked out the nearest cellular tower from me, no no cellphone for me. Not that there was any coverage here anyway. I live in a forest in the middle of nowhere.
Dagmar knocked out the nearest cellular tower from me, no no cellphone for me. Not that there was any coverage here anyway. I live in a forest in the middle of nowhere.
thats what everyone in norway does
We didn't sacrifice enough butter this year. The Gods are angry with us.
:suicide:
Could feel it here in Stockholm. Winds up to 20m/seconds. I thought it would be cool to have the windows open, but the sounds scared me so much that I closed them. ..
I think it's cozy with lots of wind outside of my house.
Holy fuck I'm glad I'm home this christmas. There are going to be winds up to nearly 30 m/s where I go to school.
Hahahah, a buddy who lives just down the road sent me a picture of the roof from their garage. It's on their lawn now. :v:
There going to be any donation funds for the town?
Is this the same storm that hit the UK a few weeks ago?
A friend of mine got his car crushed overnight. Our house is most likely completely ok, we cut down all the trees that would be any danger to our cars or house (and any tree that clogged our drains, for that matter). This is why we keep loads of firewood nearby. We could go through the winter without electrical heating if we had to.
Is this the same storm that hit the UK a few weeks ago?
Well, it certainly doesn't take weeks for a storm to move from England to Norway.
news on fp is depressing today
Is this the same storm that hit the UK a few weeks ago?
No, Dagmar went from Iceland to Norway in around 8 hours. I was without power for 6 hours last night, wasn't that bad. Read a book and relaxed.
WHY did I lose electricity an hour ago? The storm is supposed to be over now!
WHY did I lose electricity an hour ago? The storm is supposed to be over now!
There's another one coming tonight. As a viking you should go outside almost naked, face the wind, and slashing around with a battleaxe while screaming obscenities. That's my plan anyways.
