A student armed with a crossbow has killed a teacher at a school in Barcelona, Spain, local media say.
The suspect, reportedly a 13-year-old boy, has been arrested. His motive is unclear. Police have not confirmed the weapon used or whether he was a pupil at the Instituto Joan Foster.
At least four other people were injured in the attack.
The teacher killed was protecting another during the incident, El Mundo newspaper reports.
According to Spanish media reports, the boy, said to be also armed with a knife, arrived at a class on Monday morning when he injured a teacher and her daughter, who was a student of hers.
Hearing screams, a male teacher who was there as a substitute entered the classroom and was killed.

If the attacker is confirmed as a 13-year-old, he would not face charges as the age of criminal responsibility in Spain is 14.

But let's hope he won't get away with it easily anyway.
How can you even be capable of murder that young. Pisses me off to no end that he doesn't value life at ALL at such a young age. Hope this pain he's caused catches up to him and he understands how much he fucked up.

Most likely saved their life.. what a legend.
check the second source if you know spanish, it has more details than bbc
The guy was a substitute too, what a tragedy
Sub teacher, talk about terrible luck.
The 4 injured have no serious injuries. The child will most probably sent to child services.
I really wonder his motives. A knife and a crossbow, random assault. I can't understand this.
EDIT:
Children under 14 are exempt from liability for crimes committed since the law considers that in such cases should seek the solution in the educational and family environment .
What kind of family and educational environment could have pushed a child to murder and injure people?

Probably a classic case of a bullying victim pushed too far
Especially with his apparent intent to kill/injure specific other students and not the teacher
I am quite surprised a 13 year old is capable of loading a crossbow with sufficient pull weight to shoot somebody dead.
I am quite surprised a 13 year old is capable of loading a crossbow with sufficient pull weight to shoot somebody dead.
A crossbow doesn't need high pull weight to go through someone's torso at point blank range
How would you even go about sneaking a crossbow into class without looking suspicious, much less loading an arrow into the crossbow??
I don't think the kid actually killed anyone with a crossbow. According to Spanish media the crossbow was made out of pens. He did however have a knife that he used on the teacher he killed.

yeah the last part in this makes me think you are right
A 13-year-old pupil has killed a teacher at a Instituto Joan Fuster high school in Barcelona with a crossbow and a knife, injuring four other people, including one other teacher, Spanish media reported.
In a statement read out at the school gate, the headmistress said two other teachers and two pupils had been injured in the attack, and that classes had been suspended until Wednesday.
A female teacher opened the door to the pupil and he wounded her. A male teacher rushed to the rescue on hearing shouts. He was then stabbed and later died.
The dead teacher was a stand-in social affairs teacher who had been at the school for just over a week.
ABC reported one of the pupils injured was the female teacher’s daughter, and that the other was a 14-year-old boy.
The high school has been evacuated and police have arrested the 13-year-old boy, who was being guarded inside the school, according to El País.
Fellow pupils and parents gathered at the school gates.
The minimum age for criminal responsibility in Spain, even for minors, is 14. Spain’s Criminal Responsibility For Minors Regulation Act establishes due process for children aged between 14 and 18.
Information available on the Spanish Home Office website says crossbows may not be acquired without applying for “type E” firearms license, approved by the central government delegation in each province or by Civil Guard headquarters.
Applicants must provide both a medical certificate and a criminal record certificate and, in the case of applying for a “type E” licence, a hunting or sports usage certificate.
In the article I read in a Spanish newspaper it says the crossbow was homemade (using pens) and that the deathly injuries were caused by the kid stabbing the sub teacher in the chest, while he was checking why there was so much noise in the classroom.

In these situations, some of these kids who do this barely feel remorse at all. I bet in 20 years he would be saying "Ya, i killed that Bitch".
Holy fuck spanish media is saying that it's videogames' fault.
Heard about this this morning, sounds bad, I'm going to try and get my school to rethink our emergency protocol thing, right now there is none.
Another scource is Elpais, they have an english article on it.

funny, i would say it's game of thrones' fault
Jeez; any game in particular they are referencing?
Nope.
What I have heard is that he liked daryl from the walking dead (who uses a crossbow) it's funny how the same channel that airs TWD here didn't mention that detail (Antena3 pls)

Well that's a problem.

In the UK we had an extremely high-profile murder case in the 90s. An infant called James Bulger was tortured and murdered by two ten-year-olds. Because the kids had clearly understood everything they did, but were only 10 (that's the very minimum age of culpability in this country), they were imprisoned until 18. They now both live under new identities, although one of the killers was reincarcerated for child porn. He's out again now, though.
If the legal age of facing charges is 14, is a psychiatric hold an option? He is clearly a danger to people.

Pretty sure it is here.
I got a pic of the guy that someone got from his facebook wall, is it a problem that I share it here?

Idk, around here we had a lot of kids completly unattended by their parents, I guess you could label them as golniks, and they'd do pathological shit like setting cats on fire etc. Wouldn't be surprised if one of them did something like this. Sadly The polish gov seems to completly ignore this issue, which is a bigger deal than you'd think. The community here is really, really bad.

I'd say it should be fine to share. It's public after all.

Your last sentence kind of answers your first one.

The media greatly exaggerated the bullying to the shooters of Columbine and Virginia Tech, as a means to gain ratings and rally controversy. In both shootings, sociopathy and other mental defects were to blame. The parents of the culprits were aware of psychological problems in their children long before those incidents.
I wish people would knock off saying that it's just the victims of bullying lashing out.
While that does occasionally happen, it doesn't result in a school massacre.

Let's hope it is.
