• Am I allowed to use Facepunch threads in a game?

Hi there Facepunch! I've read the rules for this subforum and I believe I am not breaking any rules. If I am, mods, feel free to close/move/delete this thread and ban me accordingly. I am a game developer working on an RPG about internet forums. You can read more about the game here. Here are some pretty pictures. Facepunch has been my #1 inspiration for this game since day one: I've always loved the diversity of this forum and its bizarre, exotic threads and events. This forum has an unique history and I love it. Now, I'm not sure how this works as I haven't seen something like this done before, so, here's my question for you folks: am I allowed to use some threads and posts in my game? I will not be using your usernames/personal information/pictures. All I want to use is some of your posts. Is that wrong? Do I, like, need permission or something? I honestly have no fucking clue, lol So, I'd like to hear your opinion. What do you guys think?

all of my posts are both free as in free speech and free as in free beer
you mean like literally just the text itself from various threads? I seriously doubt anyone would care. If you were using the name facepunch or the FP logo then yea I'd probably need to ask garry first but as far as just text goes I can't imagine anyone minding.
That cat must make an appearance.
you're in for a surprise.
you mean like literally just the text itself from various threads? [editline]10th April 2017[/editline] Also the "Need a help with a few models" thread must be referenced too.
I want all of your shitposts! Also, I figured I should tell you guys a little bit more about the game's plot: Bulletin is an RPG with a heavy focus on the whole internet forums thing. It takes place "inside the internet". In an alternate reality, the day is September 4285, 1993: you and your dad clicked a wrong link and ended up in an internet forum owned by a REALLY popular game development studio called "Pufferfish". Their greatest IP is Mighty Bass: the world's fastest and hottest action fishing game. The first game was a hit: everybody loved the frantic fishing action. Mighty Bass 2 was an even better game, allowing players to rename their boats and customize their fishing rods. Entire eSports teams were formed to compete in world Mighty Bass 2 championships. It was a blast. Then came Mighty Bass 3: it sucked. Hard. Featuring Day 1 DLC, no dedicated servers, horrible netcode and an in-game shop, with most of its content behind said shop. Also, players were no longer able to name their boats. Players agreed that number three was pretty awful and vowed to never buy any of Pufferfish's games again. By the time you and your dad arrive on the forum, Mighty Bass is getting rebooted: the new game, simply called MIGHTY BASS (all caps) is going to be released in aprox. one week. the userbase is divided: one half believes that the reboot is exactly what the franchise needs in order to become a great game again. The other half is skeptical and believes that the devs are just going to keep stuffing more and more dlc in it, just like the last one. This conflict results in a massive shitstorm: users are waging war, resorting to intense shitposting and spamming to make sure the other side does/doesnt preorder the game. At the same time, some users have reported that the game has been leaked to a distant website. The moderators are doing their best to silence these users. Also, some parts of the forums are being spammed by oldtime posters. People believe that someone is, somehow, gaining access to these oldtimers' accounts and controlling them. Fear is spreading throughout the forums. And to make matters worse, the forum's greatest moderator, CHEMMAN2007, has mysteriously gone missing. Oh I almost forgot: some other users have reported that there's this huge black cloud thingy waddling about the internet, devouring entire servers and vanishing. You, the player, have a very simple goal: Join your dad and find a way back home.
If you just use copied text I think it would be up to the person who posted the content. I doubt they would care, but technically they could request you remove their writings if they're super anal. Intellectual property laws, yo.
