Starz announced today the greenlight of the network’s next original series, the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead. The project reteams the original filmmakers, director Sam Raimi, with longtime producing partner Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell.
Titled Ash Vs. Evil Dead, the 10-episode series will see Campbell reprise his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead.
When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

“Starz first worked with Sam and Rob on Spartacus, and we are thrilled to be back in business with them,” said Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director of Starz. “With Sam writing and directing and Bruce Campbell returning to the screen, we are certain the show will give Evil Dead fans around the world the fix they’ve been craving.”
Hail to the King Baby!
yes.
It can't be...
This was hinted at comic con from campbell himself, absolutely thrilled.
It better retain all of it's over-the-top drama and ridiculousness or else I will be pissed.
Shop smart.
Shop S-Mart.
I heard that Bruce and Sam were trying to close a deal.
Welp, time to order Starz. Groovy.
I can't come up with an evil dead pun that articulates my joy and amazement

So is Ash going to start the series off as an alcoholic holing up in a dumpy Detroit apartment watching TV? Is he going to be in shape? How will this start?
More importantly, will we get an episode with Ash fighting Leatherface?
I'm curious which ending from Army of Darkness they will use, the Directors Cut or the regular one.
Hopefully seeing the musical this week!
I hope they use the good ol' special effects and do away with cgi.

They better, Evil Dead is pretty much known for using practical effects instead of cgi.
Don't know if this was the case for the remake though, I didn't watch it.
oh SHIT

They actually used practical effects on the remake. Very minimal CGI present in the movie.
this show better be quantum leap with Ash and the necomicon warping through time periods and chainsawing shit

Bring a towel.

Seen it 3 times so far, splatter zone every time. If you're even slightly a fan it's an amazing show, although the current production has a weak Ash.

I didn't see the Evil Dead Series until after I watched Burn Notice so I'm sitting here wondering if he'll have a hawaiin shirt on with a beer in one hand.
Shop smart, shop S tarz Mart.
I feel like this will either be brilliant or terrible. I'm excited to see which it turns out to be.
wonder if it will connect to the remake
Hasn't this been known for a few months?
EDIT: Oh, it's just been confirmed.
