Hey guys! So since I'm a big Avatar/Korra fan, I decided to make another short about bending. This time an Earthbender and a Waterbender duke it out. This short took around 5 hours to shoot, and about 2 weeks of post production. I had a blast making this, and really hope you guys enjoy it! And as always, feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Better then M Night Shyamalan's whole movie. I thought it was pretty good. Some of the sound effects, were a little underwhelming. I also thought a few of the effects could have used a little work. But it was fun to watch! I liked the ending.

Easy to do with fire and lightning because of their form, not so easy with solid stuff like liquid and rocks. Might even require picking up some basic 3D skills
Pff, okay... the sparks from the rock he was surfing on were a nice touch. I laughed. This definitely feels better paced and more energetic than the everyday uses of waterbending vid. I can't say the effects have gotten much better for the water... but it has to be said, there was a lot of creativity in this one regardless. I liked the tracking on the cut, and the cut being healed by water. I liked how it ended, and that the giant boulder was a reasonably unobtrusive 3D model. I liked the rocks losing momentum in the water spheres, and then slowly dropping out of them. I liked how well the chroma'd bits meshed with the footage, it seriously fooled me at times. I'll say your actor should be willing to commit to having a bucket tossed on him, since for most of that fight he was clearly dry... and I'd get some heavier splashing sounds for your water... but this had a lot more reason to exist.
I feel like your ideas tend to be much better the the execution. Your shots aren't very dynamic or interesting, this video included. I assume this is so you can track everything accurately, but the effects don't really justify this sacrifice. Instead of using underwhelming 2D elements, why not switch to generating simulations and tracking them in 3D space through something like Boujou?

I'm glad you liked it overall. My previous waterbending video was definitely more of a practice video for this one [editline]7th October 2015[/editline]
I feel like your ideas tend to be much better the the execution. I've been practicing in cinema 4d and definitely plan to move onto full 3d effects soon
Let yourselves get a bit more animated and fluid in your acting, especially if you're pretending to waterbend. You're going to look like complete idiots in public without the effects but the final videos will look a lot more professional and will distract viewers from the effects you use.
